I think everyone would be intrigued by the idea of turning him into the star he was supposed to be. If we can explore that on the cheap, then I'd be ok for the AFC to take the punt.

Being a #1 pick though, he comes at an inflated price. Theres the risk.

According to SEN this morning, last season there was a trade proposal with North Melbourne for an early second round pick. Trading for a player might be a saving grace for Melbourne as you're not putting a pick value on the trade.

Should I take the lack of mentions for him as a sign that he's locked up already by GC. He's nowhere near the star he could be yet but I reckon he's made some good strides this year...especially when moved to CHB. IMO he'd be the perfect foil for Talia as another KPD and would prefer to see us make a 'full' offer for him as compared to Betts or Cooney (not that they're mutually exclusive).

How so?
Both Smack and Gorringe are average right now. Massive potential, and want to go home. Gorringe has 3 or 4 extra CMs on him and is far more agile meaning we'd have to give up a lot more to get him.

Henderson has had a few good games but is as inconsistent as they come. No one is still really sure if hes a 3rd tall back, floater, wingman, high half forward or what. May as well trade if he wants out and while his value is up.
Polec and Gorringe have far greater upside then either Henderson and Smack

every team has supporters who overrate any player that decides to leave on their own accord.

His junior form is impeccable ....players don't lose talent ......but AFL clubs CAN stuff them (Richmond, St Kilda...)
