Christ, it wouldn't even piss me off as much if they wore them appropriately. Fedora's were never cool on their own, they went with a particular style of fashion, not your baggy jeans t-shirt and waist-coat.

They generally have better sound quality at a cheaper price. I got a solid pair at k-mart for $10. I vary between the two depending on my mood and if I have a bag on me I tend to take the overhead headphones. Don't really care for the way they look but it isn't enough of an issue for me to go without music.
