Bitter pill to swallow, what a fecking joke, find it hard to imagine having any interest in this game going forward, have played , coached and administered in this sport my whole life, reckon if this goes through I'm just about done, only thing will keep me going will be to support the boys that have stuck by the mighty brown and gold. F¥#ck this !!!!

The players wanted this. The clubs have unfortunately made their bed by treating the players ike trash for years has come to this.

I cannot believe he went to them after the g/f last year. Thats the only thing i am surprised at.

I guess the last thing buddy wanted is to be the face of a club, which is one of the reasons he wanted out of melbourne in the first place.

Well done on your flag Hawks fans!
I have a scoop for you, Buddy is not going to GWS. He is not staying at Hawthorn either, all will be revealed Wednesday at the latest and it will create massive waves in the AFL community.

You guys heard it here first.

At least I told you guys about it before all of the so called 'journos in the know' found out about it today.

It sucks when you first hear the news but taking a step back I'm not too upset.
Remember, Buddy was drafted to us as an 18yo kid from WA, he had no choice or particular allegiance to the Hawks (he was a Demons supporter IIRC).

He gave us his all.. 9 amazing years, including multiple Colemans, AAs, two flags and a B&F in the premiership year. No way we would have climbed the peak twice without Buddy (which makes it harder to let him go), but all in all he more than repaid our investment of a #5 pick.

At the end of the day, he's out of contract, he wants to move to Sydney (remember, he has no real tie to Melbourne - family from WA, best mate moved back to Perth, girlfriend in Sydney), and who can blame him for not wanting to go to GWS. So the Swans it is. Don't think it's relevant that we lost the GF to them in 2012 - they beat us fair and square. Is there some rule that our players can never go to a club that we've had a painful loss to? How many times have we pipped North Melbourne and we still got Gibbo and Hale, thrashed Bulldogs in the QF in 2007 and got Lake a few years later etc.. His manager is doing the best deal he can for his client.

Remember, if he'd gone to GWS, we wouldn't have got any better compensation (in fact our bargaining position would be worse, as (1) we wouldn't be able to match their base offer and (2) they have pick 1 in the PSD anyway, so no need to trade).

It hurts, but we have to let the big guy go... thanks for the memories, and GO HAWKS.

Extraordinary deal it is.

There were rumours of an extraordinary deal from Sydney that would see Buddy at Sydney in 2014 back in March, at the time I could not fathom how it was even remotely possible and dismissed it. Been proven100% correct.

Buddy told some of the boys he was off at the end of the year when he was wasted at the Grand Prix

Interesting if true, the Ox said on Sen this afternoon said that if he had found out about one of his team mates wanting to go to the bombers after the 2000 GF loss he would have been absolutely filthy at them.

FFS...now I need to change my Nic :(

Hmmmmm Gunny4life, roughy4life or scissor4lfe?... Nah the last one makes me sound like a lesbian :(

Brand Buddy will need to go into damage control if it's going to recover

It's a shitload of money. Can't blame him really. Thanks for your contribution Buddy and best of luck.

Now back to celebrating our premiership and looking forward to 2014!

We haven't heard a peep from our football club....unusual ?

If Kennett was in charge all hell would be breaking loose.

Eddie was very strong on AFL360 tonight.
Sadly I think we will hear zero from our President on the matter.

I
I don't think he'll go. He's not in contention for the B&F anyway. I don't think he's in contention for any of the B&F awards...or am I forgetting something?
I think he needs to go along and suck up the discomfort, not simply avoid it because it's unpleasant. I'll be (even more) disappointed if he wimps out. Consequences to actions.
