Trade radio just said they have been told it might be 6pm or later that the compo picks are announced.

This is what I was thinking today... sort of. The one thing a lot of sainters have missed out on realising is that Dal would be an unrestricted free agent next year. This had to weigh heavily on their decision. In one hand they saw pick 22 in this draft to compliment picks 3, 18 and 19 on the other hand they saw Dal leaving for a generous contract end of next season. For nothing!
Don't think the club don't love Dal, as we all do. But lets be serious. I think it was an easy decision in the end.
This makes a lot of sense, plus a heap of money saved.

That's really poor by the AFL IMO. No way that they wouldn't have decided on what the compensation will be for all deals. Might seem like an hour is nothing but seriously, clubs have had champions leave, the fans deserve to know what they are getting.

Maybe they're considering making the Franklin pick mid first round.;)

What are your thoughts this three-way?
Essendon:
Pick 27 (West Coast)
Sam Docherty

St Kilda:
Billy Longer
David Myers

Brisbane:
Pick 3 (St Kilda)
Pick 22 (Essendon)

well that's what we will see more of in the future... instead of waiting for a compo pick, clubs will trade whilst they can get something decent in return.

It will pass once we start winning games again.

The AFL are going to scrap the compo's next year any way.

Well, the boot studder and water boy must be on SH1T loads of money now anyway.
Surely there is no way even with who we pick up in either trade or draft that we can be anywhere 95% of the cap.
START FRONT LOADING CONTRACTS FOR THE KEEPERS!!!!!!!

In a few short years time when BJ & Dal have retired, we'll look back on these last 2 trade periods & realise that we've worked the system beautifully.

Clubs will lose players to FA next year & get nothing.

We'll have had 2 compo picks that we've turned into at least 4 players. Hopefully all of which are key members of our 2017 team.
