Because I'm essentially posting the same as last season but people follow trends around here and the trend at the minute is to bag the shit out of me

Unfortunately most on here weren't particularly active when I was at my most active.

Seems to have been a long and slow decline since about season 8 for me, with the occasional peak. The only thing stopping me from being a 4x All-SFA player is that they didn't select teams in my two most active seasons.

Oh and I got ripped off one season after midfielders took my half back spot after I had an active season playing half back for the betterment of the team, but I digress. I've always taken issue with how that side's been selected, and I probably earned the nod in a season I didn't deserve it in whatever season I snared my first Alfie.

Well if people are making the case for Winty then I guess you could also make one for Lioness.

Lioness:
- Played for the Roys, Titans and Wonders
- Captained the Wonders for three seasons and one at the Titans
- Two time Best and Fairest and a record four time leading Goal-Kicker for the Wonders
- 153 games, 375 goals
- Was the leading Goal-Kicker in SFA history for what I assume was atleast three seasons before Winty broke the record.

I've only been here since about season 12.

It does seem strange that not many people have hung around for that many consecutive seasons.

Perhaps the administrations prior to boncer are to blame for that.

I think I could have contributed more if I was in a position to keep leading the Demons. Unfortunately my situation wasn't stable and I was fairly inactive for most of the first half of last season.

I enjoyed debating the politics while I could. I showed everybody that moving your players around the field isn't too much hassle for a good captain. I pushed to reward the more active posters over the more senior posters something I still don't think we see enough of.

Sometimes I felt the need to get stuck into league stalwarts like Mobbs when I thought they had more to give. I'm grateful that the sim was updated.

Then of course encouraging people to post quality and not just using the SFA board as another area to drive post counts. Many here are guilty of this even today even in this thread.

I was never afraid to take on the big names of the comp and these days that seems to be the norm. Anybody can have a crack at the captains and call them out for their failings. That's good because it means I don't have to do it as much

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm pumping up my contribution too much, just trying to keep it real. The league has come a long way since I got all serious around season 13-14 and now I'm more laid back and willing to just go with the flow. It's great to see when new posters get all enthusiastic and make a push to win the eka. I just hate it when they drop off never to be seen again. Yes this means you Gus and The Half Back

My argument for not renaming medals stems from a comparison with real leagues. I usually mention the most prestigious individual AFL medal - the Brownlow Medal. While Brownlow may have been some awesome player, he's not mentioned in the same breath as Skilton, Bunton, etc. Yet no-one talks about renaming the Brownlow. That's kindah my argument in a nutshell.

Tarks can't be far off a nom, Frankston Rover has to be in the running, yes lioness contributed a lot in her time here. Boncer's suggestions of Juggalo Balla and beez are also quite worth considering.

I'd like to think my love for Eth and the Demons is well known, but IMO, he would be way down the pecking order for nominations. Sure, he's an amazing poster, an amazing contributor to this league, and a likeable guy, but he hasn't even played 100 games. And tbh, the Demons had strong posters before he became captain. HoF noms should be given to legends of this league, posters who have been around for yonks (like everyone in there atm). As much as I'm supposed to dislike him being a Collingwood supporter (check out the Winty Award on our team board), I'd nominate winty.

This is a bit of a joke.

This is just another reason why people think you're a flog.

boncer34 has given his heart and soul to this competition for many years. He helped build a club, rebuilt another and is now at a third club achieving his lifelong SFA goal of playing alongside me . He is a Mobbenfuhrer Medallist and has heavily contributed to the SFA for many seasons and became one of the few antagonists in the SFA that people actually liked and respected which is a fair thing to achieve in a competition like this. Not to mention the numerous individual and team awards that he has won over the seasons and his own statistical performance on the field which stacks up with the best of them.

Not only that but boncer has volunteered his time here for several seasons now as Admin of the SFA which is quite a big job to take on, especially so since it's a volunteer role with no pay nor does he receive any other rewards whatsoever. And then there is the general bullshit he has to put up with on a weekly basis which deserves an award of its own. The time spent here is done for the love of the competition, something a few people seem to fail to understand, it's purely done for fun and personal enjoyment. I consider boncer to be one of the pioneers of the SFA, without his contributions the competition would not be as it is today, simply because of the work he and those others did 6-8 seasons ago putting the building blocks in place to create what the SFA is today.

To make stupid, uninformed comments about other posters contributions to this league is purely disrespectful and just shows you really don't have much of a clue which is generally a common theme with yourself. As for the other two you've mentioned, both had brief stints as Admin but weren't in the role for too long. Their stint as Admin pales in comparison to what boncer has achieved in that time and the fact that they have medals named after them is recognition of the job they did as Admin for the seasons they were in charge.

That discussion has already been had. They didn't evolve the league, it was a period of stagnation. They might not even deserve to have the awards named after them but it's history now.

Some would argue there's no problem. I would contend that there are potentially more deserving posters, particularly for awards named before the move of the competition toward activity.

The converse is to agree on the league's best identity alltold and then change every single award to only reflect that one person. Revisionism is a cancer.

Actually he already is rated amongst the best ever due to the parade of qualifications already clearly denoted earlier in this thread. You are somewhat correct in that the passion behind such posts as that the which you have quoted only add to ljp's folio of input quality. Not everything has to be a match thread post - and it's not as if he doesn't carry his weight there, either. People will be remembered for seasons for what they did in match threads, but they'll be remembered forever by what they did outside them.
