dlanod - Can you change your avatar? I see it and think 'oh great, it's another troll from sblack' then the post is reasonable, and I see it's someone else.
You're one of 2 on BigFooty I have to do this with. Whenever I see a port from MalceskiFan too, I think it's a troll as I think he's Papermate, have to actually check the username to realise you're someone else, someone who actually is worth my attention.
If you're going to try and be the resident troll, at least TRY and be a little less blatant.

Follow STOs example... He does it better than anyone.

Would love for you to find some posts of me trolling...

I love talking about the Rams and I get it, it's a historic day in the NFL and it means a shit ton to some people. However he is just a football player competing for a roster spot with our great DLine Depth and Westbrook (UDFA). Let's not cheapen everyone here to being sucked into all the clickbait and these lousy hypotheticals.

So who believes Bortles to be a franchise QB?

No one is saying he should've stayed in the closet, but whether he likes it or not, this will be a media circus. No one expects him to go silent, but he'll get a lot of attention for this, and he needs to make sure he manages that properly to avoid it being a distraction. That's why something like a sack celebration isn't the ideal place to making statements.

Comparing it to Tebow at the Pats is completely different too, the Tebow circus was winding up by that point, and the Pats cut him early enough.
No, it's not different. The circus comes from the media and the cling-ons looking to attach themselves to notoriety. This will be no different just positioned under a different hat.

Of course it won't be a problem.. the media will encourage him as GG already explained.. it's a good news story to share.. shove it down everyone's throats because it's a celebration for the gay community = $$$$$… it's also his chance to put 50c each way on his celebrity status growing. If he succeeds in the NFL.. you can parlay that bottom dollar that he'll have a greater appeal because the media will soak up this ongoing story tenfold. If he bombs.. it's whether he takes opportunities with many other organisations who will no doubt queue up to tender his services. Tebow was outed because of the faith by others within NFL circles to keep him on the roster had diminished. Doubt it had anything to do with his religious beliefs.
Right now it's a nice story but he's limited athletically and has been drafted to a team with the best Defensive Line in football. He's fighting to just make cut downs. Regarding the rest of your post, that's the media for you. Sam's situation is no different to any other minority or flavour of the month story. You only need to see story overexposure they give to things they deem "worthy".

Sam's jersey is outselling Clowney's
It's no real surprise who 1 and 2 are is it? Both were given the lion's share of media coverage in the lead up to the draft, during the draft and now, post-draft.

I don't mind the business component of sport but it's turned too much into a dollar chasing exercise now.

There's a reason Sam wasn't drafted 2 or 3 - and it has nothing to his personal persuasion - it was because the NFL recruiters did not feel he had the A or B or even C grade talent.

Now someone can probably tell me but the odds of a 7th rounder making it are much less than a 2nd rounder as the club has less money invested in him.

Good luck to him, Sam will need it...

His odds aren't great. I believe the Rams have quite a few DEs on the roster already. This could mean they intend for him to stand.

I can't see this being a success though as his speed is lacking even more than his strength

Sam would not have played defensive end in the NFL regardless of where he was drafted (if he was drafted). He needs to convert to OLB.
In a 4-3? Will get abused constantly

Needs more meat in his diet??

I bring it up because its something there no one has brought up but kinda relevant....how will Sam respond?

moving forward, I guess you've identified a hole in scouting reports, next year most scouts will probably have to include the motivations behind sack dances of all defensive players.

perhaps they could even include sack dances in the combine. :drunk:

Hey, at least my scouting report is better than the Patriots (manziel)

You would have NEVER picked up the outlaw blood... EVER.

Nevermind the odds.. it's all about sleeper value in this league. Seventh rounders who made the NFL top shelf their own include:
Saints' WR's Marquez Colston & Eric Martin, Packers Donald Driver, Cinci's TJ Housh, K Gary Anderson, Broncos Pro-Bowlers and SB champs.. TE Shannnon Sharpe and C Tom Nalen and the underated Raven QB sackmaster, Michael McCrary.

I said odds. Some do make it but how many do not either because they don't have as much leverage as 2nd or third rounder.

I enjoy the story of the low draft pick made good. One of my favourite players from some years ago, although not an Oilers fan per se, was the 8th round pick, 3 time all Pro safety Blaine Bishop.

That said for every Blaine Bishop (who was pick 214) there were 10 others that didn't make it.

To be honest, whatever!

Other than seeing how a non system QB from a mild weather college team fairs in Cleveland and if the media are able to keep it about football if Sams doesn't make the Rams' roster, I wonder how the other 252 drafted players are going?
