What else is Little supposed to do?

They've waited, prepared themselves and now acted.

No-one really knows what's going to happen. I wouldn't expect anything less should it have been our club.
How can they challenge it?

You can't fight City Hall.

They accepted being kicked out of the finals and took the fine for being cheats.

We didn't challenge our salary cap penalties.

They were going to sue Greg Swann for calling them cheats...

You either do nothing or you take a shot.
Essendon are taking a shot based on their legal advice. What did they tell them?

80/20? 70/30? 50/50? Who knows but they're doing exactly what we would have wanted our club to do..............not lay down.

Lots of things can come up and happen through the process and no disrespect to anyone here but...............we just don't know.

No way in hell would I want Carlton to fight tooth & nail against anti doping

What does it mean if they challenge ASADA and lose?

Millions of dollars down the drain to prevent players being banned for six month to two years.

They've muddied the waters enough by taking shots at ASADA by using spin doctors and sympathetic journalists.

ASADA wouldn't send out 34 SC notices for a S2 drug on a whim.

Do the crime, do the time.

Even Reimers thought it was unusual, but went along with it.

ASADA wouldn't issue the notices unless they thought their case was rock solid. It isn't a case of if they get banned, it's when. Paul Little is just trying to change the when.

What if they win?

They've had forever to cover all bases.
They'd have some idea of the risks and are weighing them up against the rewards.

Just saying that we have little (excuse the pun) idea of how this will end up, regardless of whether we've sat for a bar or not

They were happy to be part of a process that they say is unlawful as long as the outcome was favourable to them. As soon as these notices arrived they decide the process is unlawful.
Do they want this to drag out longer? ASADA might decide to start the investigation again, is that what they want?
Blame everyone else is what they are doing. Getting offside with the AFL is not a good idea.
What a horrible club.

I think they may need to show the players that "They're sticking up for them"

It's all become about the players and Hird has been pushed into the background.

It must be an absolute minefield down Essendon Fields way and minimizing damage would take precedence.

Essendon must go on and if they were forced to take a year or two off then the future of the club has to be in jeopardy. You are talking about a business which turns over 50 million dollars and employs hundreds of people.

Disagree.

I say burn them at the stake. Seriously.

Sanctimonious twerps, the lot of them.

Id feel the same way, regardless of the club. Do the crime, do the time.

We did the crime also but that hasn't stopped us crying foul to this day.

Let them burn if the findings show as such but we just don't know what can come about through the courts.

Maybe if we had have challenged the authorities, we wouldn't be in our current diabolical situation. Who knows?

They get off doping charges on a technicality.

If they actually thought they were innocent, they would put that case forward through the Show Cause Notices.
This action brands their players as drug cheats, regardless of the outcome.

That's all they want.

Who cares what conclusion the short term will brand them. As if we don't know? :)

Gentlemen, start your motors.

Basically if Little and Essendon* can drag this through the courts for long enough, the older players who would have retired because of the INs would be allowed to play out their last couple of years at the club, then retire and if the bans do go through, the club is in a much better position because they would have had a couple of years to replenish the list with bottom draft picks and rookie picks.

Little is saying that the investigation into Lance Armstrong should be used as the metric by which the length of time for the investigation should be measured. Lance Armstrong was only one person. Of course investigating one person is only going to take 6 months.

I suspect that this challenge based on the length of time for the investigation will be tossed out as soon as it gets in there as a spurious litigation. And I also suspect that as soon as that gets toss out, he will move onto the next time wasting measure. Essendon* wants this to take 2-3 years.

But as Malifice said... this could end up costing them millions as the years roll on. And the thing that sucks is that the AFL will be using the new equalisation measures to prop up the scum with our money.

How is Mark Thompson's body language in that video? Weird.

We dumped Bootsma because his last act showed he wasn't a professional footballer.

Their actions were bad enough to have them penalised draft picks, kicked out of the finals and fined.

What will their liars lawyers say?

"It's the vibe".

If they win, then it's OK to inject thymosin beta 4 into players and have them use the "I didn't know it was banned" technicality. ASADA and WADA doesn't stomach ignorance in sport as a defense. Some don't take OTC tablets for a cold. Ahmed Saad lost a year after drinking a supplement he had been given. Their legal actions are a stake to the heart of sport that is supposed to be fair and drug free.

All I'm saying is to put yourself in Little's position. What would you do?

Bend over and take it, or explore every option open to you? It's obvious isn't it? You know what is expected of you.

The loneliest people in the 2014 trade week... the Essendon* recruiters as they try and trade all and sundry players for picks.

I am willing to be that there will be at least 20 Essendon players on the table come the end of the year if Essendon* manage to tie things up in the courts for that long.

That may well be the case but what if they throw their hands up and say, "Take Us"

They have to fight and anyone expecting them to lay down is just folly..............Now for the transfer of guilt.

Lots of interesting stuff still to go down and again.......minimizing of damage is paramount.......Goodbye James.
