Is it the general consensus madden wants hird gone?

Just as there is debate on this board whether hird should return as head coach, there would certainly be the same debate happening on the board of the efc.

They can debate it to their heart's content, they just shouldn't be leaking anything to the media

What a surprise, another Hird article on the eve of Footy Classified.

We'll no doubt get another 20 minutes of discussion about Hird's future even though everybody is sick to death of it, including her colleagues, and his role for the next few months has already been decided.

She is obsessed.

So I haven't kept up with this shitfest for a bit, but I know there's a court case in about two weeks that will decide most of this. I've got a few questions;

1. Are our current chances of succeeding in this case still relatively high due to the incompetency of ASADA, or are there too many external variables to predict such a thing?

2. Have any new developments occurred in terms of how the club and ASADA are going with this (new knowledge, facts, Dank being a shit, etc.), or is it just a media circle-jerk running out of ideas?

3. So far is the board still in agreement with Hird in the coaches box for 2015 unless certain judicial matters prevent them from following this action?

4. If our club reaches the finals, will our campaign be safe from the AFL despite this saga continuing?

5. When's Hurley gonna get a bloody haircut!?

He said hird is coach and they all want him back but the decision was made because of the agenda of a few journos
That's a relief in a way, I'd be devastated if Hird was prevented from coaching us next year and it sounds like just another bs article from CW.

Having said that, it's a worry if the club are allowing the media to dictate our coaching structure.

Maybe the board should just go ahead and give the journos a match day role.

Barrett as assistant coach and caro as chief of the footy department.

Thompson backs arrangement for Hird return

Essendon coach Mark Thompson believes the arrangements made for James Hird’s return to the club next month will give the team its best chance of playing finals this season.

Hird will focus purely on the 2015 season upon the conclusion of his suspension on August 25 as he works on preparation for the upcoming pre-season, list management and recruiting.

Thompson said he looked forward to welcoming Hird back to the club next month to prepare for the 2015 season.

“We want him to come back and he is going to come back no problems at all,” Thompson said.

“We haven’t put him on the outer, we haven’t isolated him, he is going to be doing a lot of work. He will be around and talk (to players) once he is allowed to come back in because he is their coach.

“We have supported him I don’t think we have isolated him. He will be involved doing lots of work this year.”

Thompson said the decision was made to ensure as little distraction as possible to give players the best opportunity of playing in this year’s finals series.

“We feel that if he does get seen out on the oval and at games then the story would be about him and not the footballers,” Thompson said.

“He is back, they (the players) are going to be coached by him and they have enjoyed being coached by him and there is no reason why it is an issue.

“We said it wasn’t going to be a distraction and it is the last thing we wanted (for it to be a distraction).

“The players missed out on the finals last year and to go through another final series with the show being about James Hird or Mark Thompson isn’t what people want.

“That is what we are going to try and do so we feel like we have done the right thing on this issue.”

Thompson said he was fully understanding of the situation with Hird to return as senior coach once the club’s 2014 season finished.

“We are all happy that he is back, he is going to be the coach and we all knew that was the deal.”

“I was a one year coach and we all knew that was the deal.

“I won’t make a decision on (my future) until the end of the year.”

People might think that Bomber is just towing the company line but what he was saying on AFL 360 tonight sounds nothing like Caro's article on what's happing at the club.

The bitch wont stop until the club sacks Hird just hope the club stays strong and not give into that ****ing mole.

Dont you get it guys, the board is leaking to Caro to set her up!!! Hehehe its hilarious. Its been done before ;) I cant believe she is falling for it again!!!!

There's only a few questions needed to answer to figure out who should coach next year.

1. Is James Hird the best person to lead the club forward? If yes, no further questions needed. If No, goto question 2.

2. Who is? It can't be Thompson or Goodwin or anyone else at the club in 2012 because the exact same reasons Hird shouldn't coach can be made for all coaches from 2012.

3. Is there any premiership coaches at other clubs we could poach?

4. If we have to risk another untried coach would it be better to give James Hird the role considering he's already contracted?

I've asked my 8ball and all signs point to James Hird.

To reiterate my initial point. If we have players suspended due to doping infractions, Hird and Thompson are gone. Right or wrong, whether you like it or no; all the #standbyHird poster campaigns and #CutforHird twitter handles will not change that fact.

The only reason they will be "gone" will be if people like you support them going.
Support for Hird and Thompson would change that, if not for the doubting Thomases with not enough courage or conviction to withstand the bleating of opposition supporters and commentators who want to blame them.
Take your place in the lineup...you are arguing just like them.

What happens if the club decides it doesn't want Hird as coach, but Hird isn't prepared to simply void his contract?

Presumably they would have to pay Hird out, and pay for a new coach as well.

Good luck going to the members again cap in hand looking for donations anytime soon after that...

They'll resign if players get suspended. Players won't be getting suspended, so that's a non issue.

Rehash for those playing at home perchance?

I'm on my phone so a bit brief...

Said... Efc only went this path of no jimmy on gamefay because of media frenzy... Said no matter wat efc do the media will fishbowl the problem rather than report on actual footy... Virtually told robbo he is no help because he is media... can't wait to discuss team tactics with James... Has a lot of work for James to do in the next few weeks but has to keep under wraps as again media will frenzy on it... Would not give an answer on staying... I actually think he is going to stay ;)... then clipped media again for speaking for him and got roosi agreeing on all points...

There is no rift except for weak minded people believing click hunters...

Just wondering whether there is the same enthusiasm for Hird now than there has been in the past from our supporters or do you think there are many who are starting to waver? Is he the same spiritual and untouchable figure he has always been?

Also if there is an internal conspiracy (for wont of a better word) to oust him from coaching next year what would he do? Where would he go?

I reckon he's staying too if the club find him another role.

Cheers, thanks for that.

Bomber is on record saying he'll go if players are suspended, I imagine James would be inclined to do the same should he lose a large portion of his side to suspensions. Ultimately it'll have nothing to do with your passionate placard waving or "courage and conviction", the decision will be made by the club for financial reasons, sponsorship reasons, reasons of public perception, to appease the media frenzy and members dissatisfied that their club has been decimated.

TONIGHT: We are unveiling a new Twitter exclusive edition of #GoodCallBadCall Send in suggestions to @FootyClassified using #GoodCallBadCall

err...
Any Essendon supporter on twitter and in this thread, we should use the #GoodCallBadCall to send a show of support to efc and something negative against Wilson. Anyone got something good and we can retweet it all and include that hashtag?

Maybe something like, I will not read the age or watch footy classified while Caroline Wilson continues her campaign to rid hird #GoodCallBadCall

Incidentally, should ASADA not get the INs it so desperately wants for its own credibility, it's going to be a very easy point scoring exercise for some politician to bring up the amount of taxpayer $$$ that went into this investigation. Joe Public would demand major changes to ASADA itself, if it can even survive at all. It's a huge risk ASADA are taking with this, as they are all in with this EFC pursuit.

Then there is AOD. This is another reason ASADA will feel they simply cannot lose this, given the complete botch up over this substance. Don't forget, you had two instances:

1) Jobe saying he believes they were administered AOD.
2) WADA saying AOD is banned.

Now, as seen with the Saad case, there is no lag time or ****ing about in WADA Land. They can't get notches on their belt quick enough. It is their only reason to exist, for ****'s sake!! Yet these two completely incompatible statements above were allowed to go through to the keeper, despite varying types of evidence forming a much more compelling case than what is currently in the hands of the courts. And the silence from ASADA was deafening.

I'll give this balance of probability lark a go. On the evidence available, I'd think the idea there is a massive front being put forward to save face over some embarrassing incompetence is a more likely scenario than the circumstantial case being presented by ASADA themselves right now.
