Grima should concentrate on getting a game.

Scott should concentrate on winning the ones we should.

LT is the least of our problems, if you are going to call out staging call out all of it. Umpires included. I see no point in tipping a bloke in who bleeds for the club. None whatsoever.

Good post, his efforts (the cart well in the centre against three opponents) on Saturday show his passion for our great club.
 
In reality the biggest issues are the rules and interpretations. They've sanitized a lot of the contact elements of the sport (some rightly, some wrongly) to such a degree that players would be stupid NOT to try and take advantage.

Players dive/stage/duck/exaggerate to win games of football. Lindsay plays with a lot of heart, and he goes into a lot of contests hard. Unfortunately, whether its actually the case or not, he appears to think he's more likely to get a 'result' for the team by diving/whatever than by keeping his feet and doing what he does best. The side affect of this, coupled with the mainstream media's disappointing bias, means that he is, IMO, getting less frees than he should be which in turn means he's less likely to get the result for the team he's after.

As for him being called out by Brad, I can understand how some are upset at this. However Brad hasn't really shied away from the issue in the past, and it was very glaring action on the field that he was asked directly about by the media. Brad didn't just drop him in it, he made sure to mention how much LT had improved both in that regard, and as a player, and how little recognition he gets for being one of the best small forwards in the comp.

This is absolutely correct. If Kelly had not pushed him he would have been in a position to contest the mark and we wouldn't even be talking about this.

This is not dissimilar to sitting stationery in your car waiting at a set of lights and someone failing to brake in time, slamming into the back of you and you wearing the blame for your car slamming into the car in front.

Because if Scott/Grima commented on someone from another team Diving/Exaggerating you'd all be whinging that they should focus on item x or y in regard to our own team rather than commenting on opposition players.

It's not the first time someone from the club has commented on Lindsay's diving and nothing has changed since then, I haven't seen the Grima comment so won't comment on that but barring that every single time it's been commented on has been in relation to a direct question from someone in the media.

What do you want them to answer? 'Yea we love it when LT exaggerates contact, gets us all dem frees"?

Given we had our arse handed to us by the opposition again. In a display where when the pressure was on we melted again.

How about we get the f*** off media street completely?

NMFC apologises for the inconvenience but there will be no media this week.

No press conferences, not feel good stories through the website, no pirates,

2 stories for the whole week. The injury list (which is inaccurate anyway) and the team sheet.

Totally agree with that and is the reason for the thread.
 
Diving and staging are pretending something happened to fool the umpire.

Accentuating illegal contact (or creating it in some cases) is something most players do, either deliberately or instinctively. Some players get called out as stagers and others are praised as cleverly drawing frees. But they are doing the same thing.

It is blighting what should otherwise be a very good reputation for LT, although something he actually does less then he used to, so I'd rather he got called out than given uncritical support.

The result of thsi will be he'll get no frees now.

He'll cop so much shit off the ball and bullshit outside the rules and the umpires won't play it.

He already walks this path, but it'll get worse.

Always a first, we agree on something.

Very disappointing by Grima (considering he has offered nothing this year), and I see no benefit in singling out your teammates in such a fashion.

LT should go on 3AW and say it's very disappointing that Grima cannot get his body right to play AFL footy and has let the team down too often due to his absences. I'm sure that would go down well.

I just don't get what the club (Scott & Grima) was trying to achieve by calling out one of our own players.

And it's never good to air your dirty laundry in public.
If there's a problem. Keep it in house and don't give an already sensationalist media more ammo to point at our players.

The coach i can see why he said it, he got ask about it and basically put it to bed with his response. Grima though as a teammate should shutup especially when he hasn't played in months.
 
I don't care what others do or don't get away with, if Thomas wants to simulate contact or make the most of actual contact then he can have no complaints when he doesn't get frees that are otherwise 50/50. This concept is so friggen old it has its own fable.

It didn't even cross my mind that LT "Dived" when watching the game. Thought he did exaggerate the motion of being pushed but the last time I checked the video, the 2 hands of the Geelong player were in the back of LT.

Scotts should be more concerned with "Looking into that Mirror" :stern look
