Derby Final 2014 possibility - not anymore!

Its remote, but there is a chance that we could be facing the Dockers in an Elimination final according to the ladder predictor.

With all results going the way they should, the Derby Final scenario requires the following two upsets to happen:

Eagles beat Essendon next week at Etihad.
Port Adelaide beat Fremantle at Subi round 23.

That round 23 clash is essentially a battle for the 4th spot on the ladder. Fremantle have a 6 day break leading into the game, while Port Adelaide have an 8 day break.

Stranger things have happened.

why?

The thought of playing in an elimination final against the purple pansies is mouth watering. We go in as underdogs with nothing to lose, the Eagles fans get to take up an unwarranted 50% of the seating just to really rile up the mob down the road, and we could really shut them up once and for all if we pulled off an unlikely win.

It would be the most satisfying win outside of GF's ever. And you cant deny that with only 3 rounds left that it is more than a pipedream

Its good to be playing competitive footy, iv been thinking of our road to the finals since our win last week against Adelaide. I wasnt confident today but the boys flogged the Pies and im not to confident for the game against the scum either. So far everything has fallen into place but next week is another must win.

Cant see Port going anywhere, they've had it. If we make the finals we will play either Port or Nth Melb. Hopefully Port.

Think we're going to run out of puff in the Essendon game unfortunately. Too many guys going out, end of the season and players are getting sore and tired. Good effort though

I think we have a higher chance of meeting them in the second week of the finals if anything. I think Freo will make top 4 and then we will play either Port or North depending where we finish. And if we do make the finals it means we've continued our current form and won the next 3 games. If that happens I'd give us a pretty damn good shot against either North or Port.

We almost beat Port when they were actually good, so I would back us against them in a final. All hypotheticals obviously.

However, if Freo finish 4th we will need to finish 8th to meet them in the second round which would mean playing Port.

It's such a tight comp this year that anything could happen. Only thing I'm really pi$$ed about is the fact I booked a bali trip about 5 weeks ago, from first weekend of finals for 3 weeks! Any derby final I'll miss unless it's Friday night....please put it on the Friday night...

Would make all of the derbies theyve won in the last 5 or so years count for squat. Even less than squat. We'd have massive bragging rights and thats about as much as we can hope to win this year
