I sometimes get the feeling that Essendon supporters have met reality and then I read this:
"
Sorry but that's just contradictory rubbish that the public at large has been managed to believe.
Whether or not Hird's architecture somehow contributed to the breach of duty owed to the players is the whole point. You then need to determine whether there was a breach by Hird that caused damage to the players because it may be that it did not materially contribute to anything and that any penalty beyond his 1 year suspension would be "cracking a peanut with a sledgehammer". Why do you think he is pushing, to what I'll admit is the point of stupidity if he does appeal Middleton J's decision, so hard to clear his name?
The real world is so much more complicated than the "where there's smoke there's fire" lowest common denominator garbage that I hear so often. You can't just generalise because it is the specific circumstances of each case that are more important than anything else.
Hird has been set up as the fall guy from day one because the EFC and the AFL were not thorough enough and believed they could deal their way out of this, which they can't. It has not even been confirmed that the deals offered to Cronulla players will not be challenged by WADA.
Any suggestion that the removal of Hird would in anyway have lessened the the penalties we have received or that it could influence the outcome as far as ASADA is concerned is ******* dishonest.
As long as the EFC stakeholders, being the players, members, fans and sponsors, are all satisfied EFC should be doing much more to stand by its coach and any of its people for that matter.
Hird should never go unless he has proven to have failed his players. He's our ******* coach and we choose whether he stays or goes, not the AFL and not the media at the behest of the AFL.
If we buckle to the pressure I don't think I'll ever look at the club the same way again."
The delusion dies hard

Casper the friendly ghostOh dear. So who was in charge![]()

"What the club needs to do for the sake of the fans is release images or video showing Hird and Thompson together with the players. These images should be depicted to appear as if they are not posed for but rather taken in a "natural" setting. Obviously we would want the photos to show the players looking happy and comfortable along side their coaches.
Another thing the club should consider doing (following the Grand Final) to attack from a PR angle is do a press release showing the players and support staff standing united together with the headline being "We are innocent and we will prove it"."

"you want him gone because you want this to be over..
guess what? hird could leave tomorrow and the players would STILL have to defend the SCN's.. and would still have to fight ASADA. The media would still go on writing stories.. the HTB would still be overflowing with flogs looking for ego boosts..
The man has lost everything and you still want more.

Again, from the gift that keeps on giving
"From the functions I've seen.. and the feedback I get.. I am excited for 2015.. players are very very happy to have Hird as their coach.. very happy.
And yes.. they love Bomber and want him to stay too!!
The players have become very good at being insular and just concentrating on being the best they can be. This club is going places.. in lots of ways it already has.
In the last three years we have improved our playing list, got new facilities, increased our footy department spending, entered a stand alone team in the VFL and increased our membership etc.. We are on the verge of some very exciting times for the EFC.. players can feel it and they want Hird to be part of that journey.."
There is one simple question that you tools need to answer.
If a player from your club was accused of taking substances without seeing any definitive proof, would you expect that player to accept a ban and be labelled a drug cheat?
For those who expect the players to roll over and just "cop their right whack", go farkk yourselves.
This whole board is full of turd burglars. You should all step back for a moment and look at the endless trash that is being written. Fking embarrassing. How about you all get a life.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 'clause' was raised to see if Brisbane had any interest.. perhaps when they were first approached they weren't that keen on giving away pick 4.. then talk of the 'clause' comes up.. suddenly they are a little more interested.. an offer is tabled at now you have them 'planning' for life with Ryder and getting very excited about it..
This is a very common selling technique.. used a lot in car sales.. customer can't really afford Model X, so you offer them Model R which is much cheaper.. so now they drive R and get really excited about getting a new car.. then you suggest that they really should drive X, just to make sure they get the right model.. so then they drive X and love it. As a salesperson you can now say "well Model X is only 5K more than you were going to pay to get Model R anyway and you really love it.." meanwhile the customer actually 'forgets' that they weren't going to buy a car in the first place.. they now feel their only options are Model R and Model X.. not to decline the purchase all together.
Work Cover currently has their investigation into the 10 Victorian based AFL Clubs (including your own) on hold pending the outcome of any possible doping violations.
Work Cover has indicated they have no interest in pursuing action against the EFC for this matter. They have deemed in a preliminary report that there was nothing that breached Victorian OHS laws apparent to them from the grievance filed.
The club maintains that nothing harmful nor illegal was given to the players during the 2012 season.
