rowie and jarman filled everyone with this notion that we will unleash a new super duper coaching panel this week. The club has held a very consistent line that they started the recruiting process after the sacking and that we won't have anyone for some time. This is why I've been questioning the wisdom of the timing with trade week looming.
It isn't ideal but when the only alternatives are:
- keep Sando
or
- rush the recruiting process

We don't have much choice.

Even if it costs us a little this trade week ( don't think it will - trade 'week' is almost 2 full work weeks long and most will happen in the last couple of days. We'll have a coach by then), it is better to get this decision right as that will benefit us for much longer.

Lotta storms in tea cups around here. Folks, the AFC is doing due diligence in the process of finding the right coach to take the club forward. While we are all impatiently waiting for an outcome, would you have it any other way? It doesn't matter a pofteenth of a fairy's fart if we go into trade week without a coach. We have people in place to handle whatever negotiations are necessary. I'm proud that the club no longer leaks like a sieve, this is hopefully a sign of our new maturity.
The rumourmongers in the press are having their usual shots at who they think it will be. In reality they know as much as we do. They are beneath notice, so stop giving them oxygen

Didn't Collins do something ridiculous like start with 2 loose in defence ? Not when 40 points down, but START with 2 in defence ?

No-one has suggested Collins I hope.
Quite possibly that may have been the qualifying final in 2012 the media went to town about how negative the game was and tried to drag Bass into it who was having none of it. From memory if we kicked straight we would have slaughtered them

Firstly. We never had Clarko and we will not be signing him this year. One of the most pathetic rumours in my time on Bigfooty..

We do not have anyone in the bag. We are going through the process now. I don't think finding the right coach is the hard part... I am sure Bass, Dew, Bolton, Tudor are all worthy. But I doubt any would come as the assistant. And that is what Fagan and Roo would be struggling with . Not getting a head coach but getting a solid group of coaches to work together..

I like the idea of Ratten with Bass or Dew to take over in 3.... But would Ratten accept that? I'd say no ...

If Ratten is head coach I doubt any of the other high profile assistants would join us..

that sounds more familiar actually I just checked the score from that game NWD 8.13 d WA 2.5

So what's this stuff Bomber was spouting about Sando failing because some of the older players resisting change?
I'm slowly losing all respect I had for that man. We get it we sacked your mate so just shut up and deal with it

I've heard Sando thinks Truck/Reilly were the main agitators in the playing group, both close to Roo, and weren't playing as much as they were expecting
Imagine if Reilly turned out to be the main driving force behind the changes at the footy club most of us have been begging for. Reilly, the guy who many would (correctly or otherwise) put up as the on-field poster child for everything that's been wrong with the club for years.

Reilly!

Im surprised you blokes aren't excited about Bolton becoming your new coach. Where do you see the downside?

Long time reader, first time poster... So feel free to shoot me down.

Unsure if it's been discussed on here or if he's ruled himself out but what about Rodney Eade?

I would class Eade as a relatively big fish. Took Sydney to a GF in his first year and and took an under resourced but talented Bulldogs to three prelims.

As for the big fish being lined up and now everyone has gone cold, maybe Fagan has come into the picture and demanded the club follow the correct process and due diligence before appointing whoever it is Roo may have already had lined up?

As for Bolton, I think taking an unknown assistant from the reigning premiers and expecting success has been tried with Sando. Definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with history repeating itself.

Would be nice to get Tredrea or Carey to do some part time mentoring work with the tall forwards too.

Tredrea already mentors Tex. Has for a few years.

Cause Sando told him it was the truth! Just like Hird told him the supplements program was all fine and dandy and above board. ;)

Yeah I like Eade, did a lot with under-resourced clubs and you think he'd be able to do quite a bit with a club that should have a bit more power. Has remained in the game and gained more experience.

Not much love for him on here though.

I agree. Bolton to me feels exactly like all the early fapping over Neeld. Coming from the Malthouse / Collingwood school of everything is awesome, all the players he'd coached talking him up as being the catalyst for their greatness... swap collingwood for hawthorn and it has all the hallmarks of being the same to me

I seriously would love to have Tredders at the club as a forward coach, but I don't think he is interested in doing it full time. Which is fair enough.

I've seen them at the footy before when Tex was in his moonboot with Tredrea driving them into the carpark, they seem to be good friends.

Great to see.

Would like him and McLeod as development coaches/mentors as I believe they'd have a lot to add to the group. Not everyone has to be assistant coaches imo.

If Sanderson thinks that a retired player and one on the verge of retirement were the two most influential players at the club then he really was out of touch with the group.

Rooch may be a spud, but if you're gonna bag everything that he's ever said then I'm concerned you are one of the reasons I stopped going to AAMI Stadium.....open your other eye, please !!
Don't generalize. I refer to one event (and you know it): the way Craigy's dry wit went whoosh over Rooch's head when he said "Sorry, I don't know what you mean, Michelangelo. Plan B?"
