Knowing we have cordy this year, and many other F/S in years to come, would it be wise to not bid on Moore ? Fly under the radar so to speak.

The pies will take Moore at 8, that still is a bargain for them.

That being said if we did bid on Moore and somehow the pies didn't match it (very unlikely) then we would be happy picking up our KPF

Collingwood are not going to bid pick 8 on Cordy and all of their subsequent picks are after ours, so the most "damage" Collingwood could inflict on us with Cordy is to bid with their second round pick, which forces us to use our third round pick, which is probably fair value or a bit better anyway.

We should definitely bid on Moore in my opinion.

Anyone else heard that we are into Halloran from the hawks?

I think IF these 2 events did happen.... the AFL would step in. Actually, scratch that. The AFL SHOULD step in but won't. It would be great to have the strength of management of the NFL here in AFL.
make sure we get more than a 1st round pick for him

Surely someone who is unchallenged by epistemology would at least spell said word correctly...

That post broke my meter:

Weird scenario coming up, but if we can get the Dee's 2nd pick, and the Saints take McCartin, do we take Petracca?

If we trade with Melbourne, it will be on the basis that they have received Pick 3 as compo.

They'll then trade that pick - not pick 2.

If the Saints don't take Petracca - Melbourne will.

He won't be there at pick 3, no matter who is holding the first two picks.

We're after pick 2, not 3.

You'll hear the expletives from my office in the CBD if they get Pick 3 as compensation. I will lose my nut.

If we fail to pick up at least 1 of the 2 Victorian KPF's then I'll be pissed.

I laughed when I read that. If they do then surely we'd pass and let him go. He looks good prospect but not a first rounder. I have not seen a lot of him however......but we have to be strong, and select him on his merits not on sentiment.
This would force us to use our second pick on him. You would baulk at that?

Then be ready to lose your nut.

Seriously, if the contract offer is 3mil over 5 years then band 1 compo is reasonable.

I read someone else indicating that Higgins should have been worth about the same as Frawley!!! Where was the 3 mil for Higgo if that was the case?!?!

Start warming up champ.

This is a priority pick dressed up as compensation.

As soon as the AFL denied them a priority pick, this outcome was rubber stamped.

spot on.

AFL can't be seeing to reward incompetence...but if they follow 'the formula' and 'the formula' dictates the compo is band one - well - you can't argue with 'the formula'

So, we get relegated to Pick 6.

Would Pick 6 and Koby Stevens get Melbourne's gifted Pick (grrrr...) 3, you think?

Aside from Boyd, Stevens is the only midfielder I could stomach trading. He started in the vest a couple of times and was prone to butchering his disposal when he started getting tired. I love his hardness, but I think a midfield that has Libba, Macrae, Bonti, Dahl, Honeychurch, Wallis, Griff, Boyd, Hunter, Hrovat and even Stringer and Jong is still enviable (unless you're GWS, of course).

There's not a chance in hell Stevens gets it done, for the reasons you mention.

We're prepared to part with him because he's a "second stringer" - his disposal is ordinary and he is not at the level of the others.

If we want to trade up - we are going to have to part with something we don't want to. That means a Hrovat, Hunter, Dahlhaus.
