Well I guess Ziebell can get over his shoulder and have a better year next year.

Or Bastinac.

Or Jacobs can play an inside role instead.

Or Dumont can play 1s.

And we have $350K-400K for someone else.

Really struggling to find the positives here.

Yep none at all. :Zondor's stern look.

Hmm just read the transcript of Pickering. Might've been diplomatic but I agree with those who thought it was pretty damning.

We stuffed this up. Before the "club is always right" brigade protest, don't tell me that losing a guy hitting his physical peak who missed winning our B&F by 2 votes in a top 4 year was part of the plan.

We fluffed this up badly and the onus is on the club to drive hard and get appropriate compensation without being intimidated by Collingwood.

i agree that is why i want to hear from the club. He has asked to be traded so now i want to know what the club is thinking.

Swallow will also come back bigger and better you would think off a full pre-season. While not ideal losing him, not the end of the world either

love to hear from the club in regards to Greenwood and the strategy going forward now
yeah me too. It says to me that they are planning their approach to this.

Either they want to have another chat with him or the conversation with Collingwood is already happening

Bris: beams
Coll: 5, Greenwood
North: Freeman 21
Gws: patful
Beams gets to Brisbane, north get a young gun and a good pick Collingwood cover Beams with Greenwood and get pick 5 gws get good experienced player
I can dream yeah?..

Levi Greenwood has informed North Melbourne that it is his intention to request a trade to the Collingwood Football Club.

“We were hopeful that Levi would re-sign and stay at North Melbourne and it is disappointing to lose a player of his calibre,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh said.

“The commerciality of AFL today is very real and an environment that both clubs and players alike are a part of. In this particular case Levi has been presented with a superior offer from another club, and we fully understand how the system works.

“The significant piece of work that remains is for Levi’s nominated club to be able to provide compensation that is able to satisfy us.”

Greenwood was recruited with pick #32 in the 2007 National Draft from Port Adelaide in the SANFL. The midfielder has played 74 games since his debut in 2009.

“We thank Levi for his contribution to the club over his seven years at Arden Street,” Walsh said.

Well I guess Ziebell can get over his shoulder and have a better year next year.

Doesn't have the speed and endurance to cover opponents like Levi. Better up forward. Therefore different types.

Or Bastinac.

Should consider himself lucky to be at North Melbourne next year. All the ability and none of the oomph. Next.

Or Jacobs can play an inside role instead.

Currently can't be relied on to not drop the pill like a bar of soap when he realises he's playing under lights. Work in progress.

Or Dumont can play 1s.

Potentially a good player but it's all potential at the moment I don't think he'll match Levi's ferocity at the contest and explosiveness.

And we have $350K-400K for someone else.

Really struggling to find the positives here.

Unless we particularly well I think we've lost the side's glue. He was a great partner in crime for Swallow, allowed Cunnington to be the first player to receive the pill from congestion and use his vision to setup play and allowed Ziebell to play wider and up forward and use his marking and long kicking better.

It is what it is but I don't think we'll just cover his role automatically like you infer. He was a real moneyball player this year.

Really struggling to find the positives here.

Or one of those first or second rounders that have not got game time can have the opportunity to do so under an experienced corps of players.

No advantages by his move whatsoever.

I suggest the Club's thinking is along the lines of you greedy campaigner Levi.

1.8mil over four years. Good luck with that and well done Levi.

Am hoping the two picks in the twenties comes off, add in sixteen and we've three in close proximity.

That makes drafting easier.

How can people say the club stuffed this up? Greenwood's own manager said that our latest offer would have been accepted 3 months ago. The problem... HE WASN'T WORTH THAT 3 MONTHS AGO! How could the club anticipate then that he would be worth that now or that another club would be prepared to pay overs? We offer him what he's worth now but another club is prepared to pay overs and I, for one, am incredibly happy that the club is not prepared to pay overs for a guy (and potentially undermine future list management decisions) who plays a position where we have plenty of depth and are willing to stand firm on their list strategy.

All this nonsense about how people here think they know better than the club has to stop. Unless you're on the coaching committee or you are a player you have absolutely no idea why Greenwood didn't play all that much before this year so stop pretending you do. You're not Cameron Joyce or anyone involved in list management decisions so stop suggesting that the club has made awful decisions in this regard. They obviously have a clear strategy and know that strategy far better than anyone on here. That is of course unless Joyce has an account on BF.

Pies - Greenwood & Pick 5 & Pick 36.
Lions - Beams .
Kangas - Daniel McStay & Pick 30

Collingwood Gain Pick 5 and McStay from Brisbane for Beams.
Kangas - Get McStay a backman they need and an upgrade from 36 to 30. Hopefully grab Nakia Cockatoo.

are you sure? I have been advised by someone close to the club that Levi was a FA at 12 noon last Friday. you can take that to the bank.;)

Interesting this...I think this is right ...not 100%
Players who are not in the top 25 per cent of salaries at their club are eligible for unrestricted free agency if they have served at least eight years with the club.
Greenwood wouldnt be in top 25% (Or would he?)
And he debuted in 2008 so its his 7th year.
I stand to be corrected

Liam Pickering just said on SEN that Levi also felt that if North had a full strength midfield available that his position would be in jeopardy. North had offered 3 years

Geebus now him as well didn't Gibson pull the same shit?

Shattered. Yes. But paying him overs would have been bad player management down the track. The club knew this and that is why it has happened. This is why we got blokes like Geoff Walsh back to the club, been around a while and knows his stuff.

So do you believe every list manager in the AFL gets it right 100% of the time?

If not, then odds are people on forums who disagree with the AFL list managers might actually get it right some of the time.

I've already cleaned my hands of him. He wants to piss off to effing Collingwood, let him.

Collingwood will stiff us, we lose-lose-lose.

Hope people have backpedalled on the "we are a destination club" rubbish now. We wouldn't have this if we were.

In a nutshell, the above quote says it all.

Levi is a fantastic player etc etc. but there are 3 players already ahead of him in his preferred role at the club.

It's a loss but not a critical one.

Key now is to use the situation to our advantage and ensure we get adequate compensation.
