Again, anyone mentioning Greenwood in the Beams trade needs start headbutting brick walls.

People seem to forget that if that scenario happens we will effectively be giving Beams up for pick 5 & 25. Massive unders for an elite player. If North are then willing to part with Greenwood for pick 25 should tell us that he is a blue collar player at best. Our club must not accept this deal.

Stevo from 7 alluding on Twitter that we have put Beams out to tender. Do we want him to go as he has been a bad boy again, or does he want out ?

Plot thickens with Beams ... Pies effectively put him out to tender .. A couple of clubs outside Lions confirm he's on table

Once scenario floated to get Beams to Bris .. 3 way deal .. Pies get pick 5 and Greenwood, Roos the Lions' pick 25, Lions get Beams
He can go. Too much damage. Perhaps more so than what Dustin Martin caused last year. But please not for 5 and greenwood. If we want greenwood, we can do that trade ourselves

I just wrote the following on the main board after one of the Brisbane supporters said that their first year players are untouchable just like they would be at any other club:

So if one of them wanted to return home with a year left on their contract and nominated theories, who would you be asking for?
I believe Beams will be your best player. So if someone wanted to buy your best player (who is 24, has played in 3 grandfinals - one successful - has won a club b&f over swan and Pendlebury, has been AA, etc) with draft picks, what would you ask them to put forward?

The deadline is set for Friday. If Brissy can't give what we've asked then the trade won't get done. It really is that simple.
Will we have to have a disgruntled player on our list next year? Yes.
Do people often work in workplaces and environments that aren't their first choice? Yes.
If Beams doesn't get on with the job in 2015 as a collingwood player then Brisbane would and should lower their offer in free agency.

So, basically, if the trade doesn't get done this year we know full well that he will walk at the end of next year. But he would still need to actually play well in 2015 to either keep the lions offer the same or ask them to increase it.
If you guys offer him $700,000 p.a. Or more then we'll be getting a decent first round compo pick for him. If Sydney got a second rounder for Malcieski @ 30 years of age and 2 LARS ops, I think Beams @ 25 years of age on very decent coin will attract a top 10 draft pick.

Also now that lions pick is 5 rather than 4, and it is public knowledge than the top 4 picks are expected to be very higher quality whilst the next 6 are slightly lower and very similar, it is even more so unders for Beams.

The deal won't get done, Beams will be at Collingwood next year and will be grumpy for a while but will suck it up and be a professional about it like people have to be in the big boy world.
Then at the end of 2015 he can walk and Brisbane can have him for free.

I'd love for the club to have the balls to make him rot here for a whole year if Brisbane don't come to the party. It's time to make a stand.

If we do trade him to another club it would be a real kick in the plums for Brisbane.;)

What do you think will be the end trade what will the Bears give up anyway?
Mark Zanotti and Roger Merrett with a pack of crisp's :-) deal done

Why's everyone still keen on Aish?
I thought the only reason his name was being thrown around was because he'll reportedly go home to Adelaide and that we could use him for leverage for Danger, which is now off the table........

Why would we want a guy who will want to go home for a guy that's going home?

I don't want him here.

Beams doesn't deserve to wear our colors again.
Who said anything about him playing? Take the hit and leave him out all year for trying to break a contract he signed so he could chase money in Brisbane. He's done nothing to make this easier for Collingwood so he can go get ****ed.

If he stays he plays. If he refuses we sue him for breach of contract.

To be honest, if reports are true and GWS are offered Beams, I would happily accept our losses and get pick 4 of them if these ****wits, hold us over a barrel in regards to Dayne Beams.

I think we could even manouvre and make it pick 1 in a 3 way trade between O'Rourke and picks 4 and 1.

I think the Aish deal to Adelaide could get done tomorrow with pick swaps though.

Gold Coast will be looking at their dollars and cents to work out how they can get him across. With Malceski signed for three years, they have enough half backs/ mids that potentially be cleared for Beams to offer for trade. Mckenzie, Harbrow.... They may even be able told onto pick 7 in a deal- lonergan and Mckenzie for beams- would love to add pick 14 or their second rounder.

Speculation Beams would play elsewhere, but his management is adamant Brisbane or bust ... Beams is now in the US after missing Copeland.

Wow. Great son.

Requests trade to be closer to dad. Leaves country first chance he gets.

Brisbane can kiss any compassionate grounds argument goodbye. Make them our bitch, Hine.

I was just seeing what you guys thought about the Beams situation and came across the comment you made and couldn't help but reply.
Honestly... If he wanted to go home for his old man, he should be open to going to both QLD clubs. I would have been ok with that. But he has another agenda

If we don't, then our strong facade will be completely ruined. Clubs will walk all over us in the future. If we ever give an ultimatum ever again it will be "oh, just like that time you said you wouldn't trade beams for pick 5! Lol!"... No, we need to make him stay. And actually play. In fact, if he doesn't play well it is an indictment on himself as a player and as a professional. No person getting paid $400,000+ per year should be not trying their best in their work place knowing that in 12 months time they'll be on 600,000+ if they keep it up. If he cains it next year he could ask Brisbane for a million. Yep. I said it.

If we stand strong here, in future trades where we give an ultimatum clubs will know that we aren't bluffing and they will cave. We CANNOT cave.

Keep him and get a first round compo pick next year. I do not want brisbane's pick 5 unless it is a sweetener in the deal. We are not trading a star for a pick. Nope.

Come on collingwood. Do us proud and make Beams stay.

if beams is in US the hole old man thing is bs. If it was my old man id be with him or go on a holiday with him somewhere he could.. Smelling fishy... this sucks.

No compensation for us next year. But I agree. Good deal or no deal

Look, I'm as pissed off with Beams as anyone but having a sick parent doesn't mean you can't go on holiday.

This,

We made our stand now we can't bend over.

If Beams stays at Collingwood we must make a stand.

[mod edit] I should be more respectful on opposition boards :( [/mod edit]

That's all we need to give up. He wants out of Collingwood.

If Aish wanted out of Brisbane, what would you be asking? You got him for pick 7 yeah? So surely he'd be worth pick 5 now? Oh, but wait, Beams is worth pick 5 (using Brisbane logic).... So... Aish would be worth... Pick 10? Oh, but that doesn't make any sense...
Just like.....

Beams for pick 5.

IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN.
If he wants out of collingwood that is great, he gets to walk at the end of next year. In the meantime he can choose to honour his contract or be traded to a different club. That is how it is.

Stay calm friends, all will be revealed in due time :)

Even if we lose beams for chips, at least we're not Brisbane ;)
