I'd be happy because I'd feel comfortable that we'd make good of him but on the little I've seen I wouldn't be jumping for him.

The issue I'd have with Lamb is he isn't the leader type we've drafted in recent years. Bad boy antics can happen to any footballer, even the more intelligent like Simon White but look at the kid's we've taken since Rogers coming and their character. I may be wrong but Lamb seems to only have flashes of brilliance going for him. Maybe he's a hard worker too but in that case I'd take a Viojo Rainbow before him any day.
Lamb has tricks no doubt and this may not sound nice but I wonder whether he's smart enough to use his abilities to maximum value.

If lamb is still available at 28 i couldnt be fast enough reading his name out. Lamb could potentially end up being the best player from this draft. Theres not many 193cm players who can run all day in the midfield and also go forward and play as a KPP. His athletic ability is well worth the punt at 28.

He does look like he's 100% smoked a heap of weed in his life which for a footballer isn't ideal and this expulsion from 3 schools will put many off.
In the end I'd prefer we not take him as the headaches involved with future media circuses and the chipping away at team cohesion etc is not worth the chance he'd be a very good footballer. We couldn't even handle Mitch and Jeffy.
Am I the only armchair-expert underwhelmed by Weller?
Now maybe he'll go top 10 on draft night but there's plenty of players I'd rather slide to 19.
I just can't see he has ridiculous 'upside' nor fills any gaping hole in our list.

Mate seriously the Matthew Dick jokes are banned!
...but I will say Weller seems like a Dal Santo type outside player where he doesn't have amazing burst speed of Dangerfield or elite endurance like Isaac Smith but he seems like a consistent quality contributor. I feel like he's one of those types that will defined by club development.

"Only time will tell how many problems the Blues' off-season acquisitions solve, but the club have certainly assembled more options than they had at the start of this year. They'll be hoping their environment will help turn two athletic players in Jones and (the injured) Jaksch into a bit more, and while Whiley is just starting out, he is hard and tough and could add to their midfield depth. Sliding from pick 7 to pick 19 was a significant decision and the club is unlikely to get a look at Peter Wright as a result, but the Blues rated Jacksch highly in his draft year just two years ago. Caleb Marchbank (a tall utility) might land somewhere around pick 19, and hard-running forward Tom Lamb might reach 28, but there will be midfielders around at both selections and the club could do with adding some pace and clean ball use to its on-ball group. Jarrod Pickett, Jarrod Garlett and Nakia Cockatoo have that, but could be gone, meaning the Blues might look to Lachie Weller or Connor Menadue, both of who can carry the ball, or consider Dillon Viojo-Rainbow, Touk Miller, Damien Cavka, Jordan Cunico or the taller Dan Howe with a later pick. Heeney, Moore, Petracca, Brayshaw, McCartin, Pickett, Laverde, DeGoey, Lever, Goddard, Wright, Durdin, Duggan.
That leaves 15 Picks from 13 to 28. The possibilities for Carlton look to be:
Wellar, Ahern, Lamb, Marchbank, Langford, Cockatoo, Garlett, Ellis, Blakely, D.McKenzie, R.McKenzie, V-Willis, Menadue, Maynard, Hamilton, Rainbow, Neil-Bullen, Wigg, Cavka, McLean, O.McDonald and the older 2 possibilities seem to be Boekhorst and McGovern.
That's 23 players for 15 positions.
Just my opinion but of those 23 i don't rate/want for Carlton:
Cavka - Messy kick, don't rate highly, doesn't add much to team.
R.McKenzie - Don't like his chances at AFL level
Ahern - Shy introvert type
McLean - Shy introvert type
McDonald - We have enough of his type, big bodied backmen
Viojo-Rainbow - Back issues, injury concern, we have half back types and don't rate highly
Neil-Bullen - Messy kick, we have enough of his type
Boekhorst - still only 69kg at 21yo. Not much hope of filling out. Not physical at all. Big reach.
McGovern- also seems a bit early for McGovern at #28.
SO, that leaves 14 players that i would be more than happy to get 2 of at #19 and #28:

Terry, just a query on your analysis of Boekhorst. Given he's never been in a professional AFL environment before, I'd say he has every chance of being able to develop physically and gain mass/size.
No probs. That's your opinion.
He has been in the WAFL system for 3 years. If he could bulk up, he would have by 21yo.
To me though it is a big risk at a high pick to take a 21yo who is 184cm and still 69kg who is not physical at all and averaged 20 possessions in his breakout year.
We all have our opinions.
Whoever picks Boekhorst, he will be an interesting watch.
Yeah, they can play of course.
But the Club have openly stated that they are trying to liven up an overly introverted group.

You're not going to skip top talent just because an 18y.o. may be a little quiet.
Well, that is a nice wide extrapolation.
Of course if you have the choice of the shy introvert Ahern or the boisterous extrovert Straughnie....you are going to pick Ahern
But Rogers is picking between an even lot to join this particular playing group. I think it will be a consideration.
Ahern is reported to be VERY quiet and shy and similar with McLean. Both are terrific players and i'm sure terrific kids, but both might be suited to different playing groups.
Best pick for Carlton. You use the line often, and well, yourself.
Don't think we'd bypass Ahern because he may be quiet.
We did need young leaders and we may well have some now with Cripps Buckley Graham Menzel Docherty etc.

Character is clearly very important but being quiet doesn't mean you haven't the right character.
I don't think that the two are mutually bound.
Lamb is extroverted Nori (and by the way, welcome) yet he may not be the character we want.
I think, and I may be wrong, in that when Rogers talks about character he may mean qualities such as respect, integrity, being self-motivated and having leadership abilities.
Some may confuse leadership with being loud but that's not necessarily nor always, the case.
Judd was never loud but he always garnered respect for his work-rate, determination and training.................didn't play too bad either
