Its kinda both.
Go watch the opening 10 minutes of Munich and you'll understand why the police aren't letting them show anything.Lol, nice. All I know is there are cameras set up facing the cafe directly with the police are monitoring and not allowing the media to show. Surely we're missing out on quite a bit. They're not all sitting inside the cafe sipping lattes and discussing Steve Smith's selection as Australian captain.
If it goes down that path it will have to be a co-ordinated effort with a few of the Hostages. Going it alone is just asking for it.There is a chance one could get frustrated and have a go at him...

Maybe he just wanted a free feed?its also a resturant.

Hope you're right and it wouldn't surprise me.I reckon the negotiators are making progress, won't be long and this guy will be in custody.
Why would there be massive backlash? It's the last resort if they shot him 4 hours ago they would cop massive backlash
I have no doubt they could take him out with one shot
I understand why. It's just frustrating.Go watch the opening 10 minutes of Munich and you'll understand why the police aren't letting them show anything.
Well you would think that, but you never know how you will act until you are that tired. If it goes down that path it will have to be a co-ordinated effort with a few of the Hostages. Going it alone is just asking for it.

The primary goal is to ensure that the hostages are out in one piece.
Police obviously doing the right thing in asking the media not to release his name but surely it's only a matter of time before it's leaked. Surprised it hasn't happened already. On that front things have gone to plan.
It's also apparently a favourite cafe for terrorists.

The gunman knows that he has two possible outcomes
He kills one person and dies moments later, or he surrenders
Given hes waited for 12 hours and the police have decided not to move, its pretty clear to them at some point he will surrender unless something changes until then
They're under the impression he has bombs in the cafe and the CBD. Look how terrified those people running were. They believe it. So suddenly it's not just a matter of "you might die". It's "you might die and cause hundreds/thousands of other deaths too".Well you would think that, but you never know how you will act until you are that tired.
But if the hostages were to perceive him as getting frustrated to the point where it was dangerous to them, then they might want to act in a co-ordinated fashion
If shit went down they should be able to take him with hopefully minimum damage. Minimum 10 hostages, one guy (most likely) with a sawn off (most likely), 2 shots before he has to reload. Cops are what 10 seconds from being in the room?
Naah.. Can't imagine that.they may think stuff this, i dont care anymore, i die i die, better to be shot during asleep than alive
Some senior Muslim dude is on Sky at present; says this guy is well known to all of them, and something like there will be surprise that he did this, and he's not the type?
