Does that look like the face of someone guilty?

Jobe Watson has only himself to blame for WADA appealing. If he didn't wear that inexcusable denim shirt during that press statement then WADA let this slip imo.
Lmao. Omg. I was thinking the exact same thing. ,(obviously in a joking way)

The players were naïve, punish the pushers to the hilt.
I think guys like Jobe in the leadership group were neither naive (years of mandatory anti-doping training) or in a position where their career would have been damaged by standing up to the program.
The rookies and guys on the fringe were in an impossible position where they either participated or would have been out on their back sides.
It's a pity that WADA doesn't have discretion to that extent but it is important that the players get done or this will just become the modus operandi for every rich sporting club around the world.
Hopefully WADA also close this loophole where the "we don't know what we were injected with and we have no records to prove whether it was legal or not" is an acceptable way of avoiding penalty.

Haha - James claiming ASADA destroyed the spreadsheet. Obviously ASADA also destroyed the computer the file
was on and Essendon didn't make copies

I am so over all of this bullshit.

I hate Essendon as much as the next guy, but ******* leave it alone! Nobody wants to go through this anymore.

Nah sorry I'm more than happy for them to keep messing with Essendon

Nothing would make me happier than them getting a ban and Hird and his vow of a wife having to eat a sh!t sandwich

Clearly ASADA deliberately bypassed their appeal due to ongoing fear of bias and intervention by the meddling AFL. **** the Essendon players. The people I feel sorry for are the thousands of athletes watching the AFL desperately try to "create" a solution, where the majority of other sports force their athletes to allow dignified due process to take place. Win, lose or draw, WADA have finally forced this to play out in an international even footing with all other athletes and the AFL should frankly be gobbling them in gratitude that some integrety has finally been dragged into this process.

O yes; and screw you Jimmy Hird you sociopath.

Good blimey it was fun watching the narcissist squirm the other night on 360. Even his media adviser Slobbo couldn't bail him out
You don't know what the players took, but they're innocent .
Anyone in for a used shredder

This is exactly it. How can they say for sure if they're innocent if they can't say what was taken. They are clearly a corrupt club and I have even less time for them than I used to.

I enjoyed Gerrard doing his best Columbo impression during the interview. Just as James thought it was all over Gerrard brought down the hammer with "just one more thing" and went in with a number of really hard questions leaving James floundering for any viable answers, whilst Robbo continued on with a dead on impression of the bumbling Inspector Clouseau.

Is there a lower standard of proof for WADA hearings? They got Lance Armstrong on purely circumstantial evidence.

Essendon should have taken an early whack like Cronulla.

Wrong. USADA offered former team mates of Armstrong reduced sentences so that they would testify against him. They also had scientific evidence against him (including proof that positive tests for EPO had been covered up), as well as overwhelming evidence that his performance had improved to superhuman levels. It was significantly more than just circumstantial evidence.

The only real question about the Lance Armstrong case was if UCI, ASO and others were so strong in their efforts to rid cycling of the drug culture, why did it take so long - the evidence was overwhelming.

This article explains a lot about that case.

In the case of Essendon, this is not an appeal - it is a complete re-trial. Why? Are they accusing the AFL of covering up evidence to aquit the Bombers? Are they accusing the ASADA lawyers involved of being incompetent?

WADA are acting like a petulant little child - throwing a tantrum because they don't get their own way. This is fast turning away from natural justice and into a witch hunt. This investigation has been going on for over 3 years. If they haven't found enough incriminating evidence to convict the Bombers by now, maybe there isn't any, they are telling the truth and they weren't using PEDs (as much as we want them to be guilty).

Or....WADA doesn't accept "the dog ate my homework" as a legitimate excuse for the second biggest sporting organisation in the country having absolutely no records of their massive and unprecedented player injection program.

What I don't understand about this new tactic of saying the information on all the injections was provided is that if they did provide the evidence why did they accept the sanctions for inadequate record keeping?

James lied. There are no records - only an excel spreadsheet constructed after the event which has subsequently been discredited. EFC's internal Switkowski investigation, which had unfettered access to everything, categorically states that there were no records (which presumably means that the dog conveniently ate the records when the shit hit the fan but before Ziggy could ask for them them.)

The whole thing is bizarre. So far, I'm struggling to think of any one person or organisation associated with the program or the case that has come out of it with any credit.

Any nominees?
