In:Darling, Ellis.
Out:Selwood, Butler

Kennedy to play on the back flank. Sounds like a crazy idea but I think he offers more to the team in the back half given the injuries to Brown and Emac. He has strength in one on one battles and has decent foot speed. His diaposal out of the backline would also be an asset.

Those who say McInnes should be dropped are off the mark IMO. He's held down his position admirably and the forward line has functioned well with his presence.

Buttler would probably have to be dropped, which would be somewhat undeserving. Another option would be to give Nelson a spell in the 2nds.

Another positive of having Darling play down back is that it removes the temptation to throw Yeo into defense. Keep him in the guts where he belongs.
an 8/10 or even a 7/10 forward is better than an 8/10 backman . forwards hard to find .

Hird said in his presser this week that they'll most likely not be rushing Winderlich back from a long term back injury, and earlier this week said that he'll need a couple of games in the reserves. So shouldn't have to worry about him for once. A flight west won't be any good for an aging Fletcher either, he's rarely flown interstate in the past year or so.

I wouldn't mind throwing Barrass to the wolves just to be able to swing McGovern forward along with Darling and JK *drool*

Bellchambers has been awful, and the backups Giles or McKernan are not inspiring. I'd be confident there even if it was only Sinclair taking the ruck duties alone.

But really, please please just let the MC make whatever changes necessary to keep Yeo in the middle, that is all I ask

Surely they wouldn't bring in Xavier rice paper man Ellis and an underdone Darling at the same time.

I would offer 40 to 1 odds on this happening, any takers?

P.S. Sinclair will not be dropped, he's being kept as cover should either McGovern or Schoey go down during a game.

Was a blustery game amd our players looked clueless in reading the ball. Ellis in for Nelson perhaps. A lot of average players out there today.

Have to start somewhere i suppose, Nelson is a liability in the back half, anyone notice his effort in the goal square in the 3rd quarter. Swallow on his knees and Nelson stands there as if he was a soccer goalie, Swallow handballs to a team mate goal. How about a tackle Nelson.
Ellis or Bennell in
Nelson reminds me of Staker crab.

That's extremely harsh, kid has been nothing short of lights out as a lock down defender, made one or two mistakes in the North game but essentially went 9 rounds without a mistake before then, very tough on the kid.

I agree. But this year we are troubled with the opposite. We have a well functioning forward line, but a back line that has a times looked fragile against teams with more than two dangerous tall forwards.

Shifting Darling back would be a short-term experiment. If it fails, no harm is done, just swap him back into the forward line. If he dominates in the backline then we have a solid team that has the 'potential' to do some damage come September.

liability ???? he played on Thomas and Nahas, Thomas had 10 possesions for the game, Nahas got the vest..... he tackled and pinned Brown ,who has about 20 kgs on him and pinned, the head ducking Thomas........ Put Ellis in , watch the hamstring rip, put Bennel in and watch the small forwards get off the leash.... drop him, fair enough, but a liability......... he aint

that sounds ok dropping darling to the backline , i liked the idea of mciness and sinclair getting backline experience at east perth , they could swing back . I think the backline is holding up well .sometimes opposition fwds get a big day out , not even e mac or glass could do anything against roughead last year . we should have beaten Nth Melbourne . werent far off with the bulldogs . There were 4 close games we lost last year . we have lost 2 again this year . Would love to reverse that trend .

Im getting flash backs of Cripps burning up Heppell :D
Cripps was unseen after the first 10 minutes. Our Lach of press and crumbing in the forward line was a big failing.

you make a good point. Also pondering it was his 2nd real game bach. may not have been fresh. he was often un-noticed at the ground - but I was looking into a storm of some proportion.

Who was on Harvey in the final qtr?

X has resigned for a year and also said he was limited to 80 minutes in the WAFL over the weekend. Thinks he needs to play a full WAFL game before pushing into the WCE team.

Not these days. In these times of zone defences, a backman has to be able to compete with a zippy crumber, a midsize bull and a gorilla, often within the space of minutes.
Goals win games . A good kick under the pressure these great backmen you talk about bring . Also the mental side of the crowd etc . Nuh good forwards more valuable
