It was recovery from a nab cup game where he got stung he git through the vast majority of the preseason and cant get back into the firm backline of the comp.

Already addressed that

You honestly believe all that conditioning he had built up was maintained after he spent weeks recovering from the barb through the foot?

Look at the game averages he has played, after his first year only 25% of possible afl games, and barely over half of possible vfl/afl games

People are kidding themselves if they think anyone wanting to trade for him will not attach a big risk discount to his price

Again, he is worth more to us on our list than on the trade table

He's still young though rfctiger74 and he's a hard trainer etc.

His body is still adjusting IMO.

FWIW, I wouldn't trade him. Just read your last line and that's 100% true, his value is higher to us but I still think someone like Brisbane would give up a 2nd Rounder for him.

Brisbane's 2nd rounder will be around pick 20. No way they'd give that for Astbury.

Yep, fair enough. But, again, the rest of the year may change things, depending if he stays fit and in form.[/QUOTE]

his conditioning was largely maintained through swimming. I agree trade wise, more value to us keeping him on the list and moving on elton. his best of good enough and if chaplin falls of a cliff or grimes does a hammy he is the first one in the team and he'll release rance if hes playing his best. keep him move on elton imo.

Wonder if he checks for rays in the pool :p

Harsh on the healthy call, considering the main injury he's had this year was from a friggin stringray barb. He's only had a minor hamstring strain otherwise.
Maybe so,But its the lack of continuity and his lack of agility these days due to past injurys. If i can see it,I'm pretty sure teams recruiting scouts can see it aswell.

Hayden Crozier from Freo worth a look ? He's an Eastern Rangers boy. I think that may have been Dimma's and Sugars old club?

yep would hope we'd be looking at him we seriosuly lack good HFF's. id be looking at bird from the swans too as a defensive forward.

How many times does Crozier advocates have to get shot down by the Dusty, Lids, Lennon etc... brilliance?

Really is embarrassing how some like to flog his attributes.

We have a cheap back up option already. Why over pay for a spud that can't get it done in a GF in an important part of the ground?

This is classic commentary from supporters, advocating mediocrity as if we want to be seduced by the Danny Frawley mantra of seasoned spuds yet again that will magically rise from the ashes after being proven to not be able to make it.

More years in the system than Docherty and Yeo when they left Brisbane. It is not going to happen.

Only have to look how weak Freo is for depth and he struggles to break into their squad!!

At least Weller or Blakely have not had the chance to fail yet and may actually become something

I don't know much about Bird, can you tell me anything about him?

Yes please. Talented but not going to get a game over Balla/Walters very often.

3rd then. Pick in the 30s seems right and fair
yep I agree, KPP's almost always attract a premium, someone desperate for a KPD will roll the dice based on his potential.

Does anyone know the deal with Benny Kennedy? Been an emergency quite a bit but not cracking the seniors.
Good player but its like Dimma's love for playing Morris, Newy and Gordo ahead of McDonough.
Buckley overrates a lot of his forwards like Fasolo, Elliot, Blair, Broomhead, Karnezis, White and Cloke.
Very talented player!

He is small. Really small. I decided in his second game that he was rubbish so I'm not prepared to consider changing that assessment, even if he wins a Brownlow

Wonder if that is one of the reasons that he isn't getting a game, they might see him as too small to play through the midfield and not good enough to play just as a small forward with Elliot and Fasolo already down there. I remember the commentators love feast in his first game, enough to make anyone think his rubbish then on in.
