That would be my best 22. Would love Duggan in there but i have a feeling he will play a game or 2 at WAFL level before playing.

I think Simpson said that he is confident that Barrass could play if required. I took that to mean that he will only come in if one of Gov or Schofield are injured.

So I think the changes will be Duggan to replace Hutch as sub.

.

Exactly my take as well

Having said that - it is a pity the lad wasn't debuted in some of the softer games we have had recently

The only change we should make us to get Scooter out of the side completely, give Hutch a full game, and bring in The Doug if Butler is not available.

By the way, Hills role according to the club is to play as more of an opportunist/crumbling forward amongst the talls, which Simpson mentioned earlier in the year as to why the kept McInnes in the side. Hill could of easily kicked 4 last week but just had an off night. I'd leave him there at the moment.

Barrass will have to play soon as we have Collingwood ( three tall forwards ) followed by Sydney who might have Buddy / Tippett / Reid playing forward .... good luck to Mcgovern and Schofield .

Knowing our luck, Moore will have a breakout match playing against Wellingham and he will get a RS nomination, and the media jizzfest will be off the charts

I would be very nervous if Barrass came in, not because I doubt him as a player but because we seem to have stumbled upon a defensive setup that from all accounts is undersized, but it just works.

If our defence ain't broke, why fix it?

Hawthorn won a flag with clarko's cluster, he binned it and created a new gameplan which he won another 2 flags.

You can bet with the aging list that he will be ahead of the pack in changing again.

WC have surprised most in the AFL with both our gameplan and the form of players like Wellingham and Sheppard. Expecting them to roll on unchallenged for the remaining games/finals is unrealistic. Lyon, CLarkson, Longmire et al will be looking at how they can break it down.

I don't necessarily think we bring in Barrass for this game, but it would be worth getting him a few games prior to finals. We are one injury away from Schoey, Gov or Shep for him to be required.

Would like to see more of the opportunist part and less of the crumbling part please.

You're right ...... they will send Rosa and Yeo to defence or play a spare man in defence if needed .

Versatility !!

Hill has got some credits in the bank. Saying that Duggan would be as effective as a permanent forward is laughable.

He's been spending them for six weeks now. Safe to say he's pretty much out.

Because we haven't played too many sides with very tall forward lines.

ill agree with you once a side like pies or swans belts us with our current defense, until then it is stupendous to change the back structure. having an opposition with tall forwards doesnt always warrant having tall backs, simmo is inventing something here which will be more valid if we beat swans. Tigers had vickery Jack and Griffiths and we still managed them well.

Butler unlikely. Which mean Duggo straight back into the side probably.

I'd rather use Sheppard on a banana like Jesse White. He has been playing very well on talls + White is all kinds of crap. Elliot might be too smart for him.

Not sure who i'd have on Elliot actually. Hurn? Or Sharron?

Sharron Hurningham?

Watched the Hawks destroy the Purple People yesterday and their movement of the ball from defense into the corridor really reminded me of our new game plan.

It is easy to see, and was maybe an exercise that Simpson has had to deal with in the past with Hawthorn having years of winning with an undersized defense.

Western Bulldogs defense seems to come out of the same song book. Beverage was also involved with coaching the defense at Hawthorn.

Really stands out if you watch closely. Eastern Wood, McGovern and Lake all play a similar role as well.
the only way to beat hawks is to play them the Hawks style. Essendon do that in patches and they did beat hawks once. its just so hard cuz hawks are so smart and experienced they adjust quick specially now when their focus level is 10/10 and they have a reason to beat us to take over the top 2 spot. i cant wait for that game.
