All this Bulldogs and Witts talk has made my Aish and Treloar trade scenario post go unnoticed

Aish will never be a top 10 mid. Top 20 or 30 is more likely.

Top 10 midfielders are usually players who have a hard edge about them, Aish will be lucky to be top 20

Hypothetically, let's say we finish around 10th both this year and next year (hopefully better, but let's keep it this way for this hypothetical scenario).

This would have us net picks ~8 and 26 in both this year's and next year's National Drafts.

Let's add to the theory that GWS might finish around 8th in both 2015 and 2016 and have picks to the approximate level of 10 and 28 in the same drafts.

With Treloar, I would propose that we give GWS pick 8 in this year's draft. If this isn't good enough alone, I would then swap our pick 8 (2016 draft) for their Pick 28 (2016 draft). You obviously run the risk of us underperforming or them overperforming, but the reward of netting Treloar is probably worth the movement of a few picks.

This way, instead of only having one pick (Pick 26) in the first 2 rounds of 2016, we would have picks 26 and 28. You could either take 2 players with these picks or try and bundle them together to get back into the first round. Obviously this would depend on the strength of the draft and how many players we needed to add.

I would also say we offer up Pick 28 (2015 draft) and a player for Aish. Usually you hear Hine saying "Player X or Player Y was Pick Z and is performing lower/equal/above this pick." You could argue that Aish was Pick 7 and is performing below this pick, as, injuries aside, he was not necessary holding his spot in a team who has finished bottom of the table two years in a row, and so on. We can all take guesses that the player might be a Seedsman, Oxley, Kennedy type player.

It is certainly going to take some negotiating but it isn't out of the realms of possibility.

Especially with Brisbane sniffing out Seedsman, who they would see some what as a semi Aish replacement for their list as well as Pies 2nd and maybe 3rd rounder. Which Brisbane can use for academy players.

Treloar from what I have read/heard is all but a done deal just a matter of satisfying GWS.

Dogs alone will have 2 top 10 -15 mids in Bont and Stringer (when he goes through there).

There are a lot of young talented mids coming through Aish would want to improve remarkably to crack the top 15-20 let alone 10.

Aish really hasn't proven anything yet.

Yeah I would find it odd we go after him anyway we have Greenwood, Adams, Kennedy and even Degoey more inside then out. Despite him being an excellent player just think we would be better off with other player types.

Need more polish, speed and break the lines types.

Reading some of the posts here, I don't think many of you understand what it would take to get both Aish and Treloar. Honestly, it's less than a 5% chance of happening.

It's not even worth considering until you have 3 first rounders you're prepared to cough up, with at least one of them being a top 10 pick.

If we could land Aish AND Treloar we'd be mad not to. I know we need another KPF but realistically, don't we need one in between Cloke and Moore in terms of age? An 18year old is going to take several years to come good, by which stage Moore will be further advanced and Cloke in his twilight. Who knows with Reid and White is... Well he's Jesse White.

I can't see how we could pull it off but I'd be pretty stoked with a strategy that saw Aish and Treloar come in, then we look to FA or a trade in the next 2 off seasons for a KPF in his 20s. Keeffe comes back on the rookie list in 2017. I think that Cloke, Moore, a stronger option than White and whatever we get from Reid, plus Fas and Elliott, is a good enough forward line to compliment the elite midfield we would have.

Complimentary to this is the hunt for young KPPs to develop for the long term, which is still vitally important.

I agree with your points and perhaps given that we would give up a lot of our early draft picks I Would consider perhaps someone like the Ex geelong player Mitch Brown as he fits that 23 24 years of age theory.
