Regardless of the report, the next 24 months will define Jacks career imo.

He's been treading water for 2 years now, his consistency is shithouse, he has a game where he looks like a superstar, then a second year player for another fortnight.

He's been a 19 possession a game midfielder for 3 years now, he needs to step up and lead this football club like he says he wants to.

Talk of captaincy is bullshit, I want him to become a 25 disposal a game midfielder before that happens, or if he spends more time forward, which he should, match his current output, but get 30 odd goals a year.

He brings a lot to this football club, we all love his aplication and desire, but we can't pot his other team mates and leave his criticism because we love the way he plays.

He's one of the main reasons we haven't been good enough this year.

Lucky if he is in the top 25 to 30 midfielders in the comp.

This above is a f***ing disgrace. Coaches, clubs and players not permitted to give their thoughts on the MRP incidents but the Official AFL website can run opinions like this before the judgement has come through. If I was NMFC I would be asking for a please explain. Again, it's a f***ing disgrace.

Agreed. Chances of our club standing for anything? 0. Flying the flag thought of as poorly off the field as on.

He doesn't get the pointless outside 1-2's to pad his stats. Plus, he spending more time forward this year, which is good.

I'd rather 20 touches from Jack than 30 from Gibson.

Wells has never been a high possession mid, but he hurts with his touches.

Jacks kicking efficiency is one of his biggest problems, he slaughters it by foot.

If you watch the replay it actually looks like as JZ leaves the ground he has anticipated for the mark to be taken closer to the opponents face hence the reason he punches more on a 90 degree angle and collects the opponents head with his forearm. I really don't think there was any malice in the action just a timing miscalculation.

If the opponent did take the grab closer to his face then JZ makes contact with the ball and probably still collects the head with forearm but doesn't look as crude - probably a 50 m penalty and no report.

I know possessions can be padded etc, but how many times do we think JZ has had more than 20 touches more than 2 games in a row throughout his career?

If the captaincy was thrown open tomorrow, my nomination would be Goldy.

I love the way Jack plays and think he will get there but he's got to do it all the time.

Him going from where he is to his best most weeks, would almost be enough to move us from 5-8 to legit top 2.

I'll put y'all out of your misery.

It has happened a grand total of 3 times. Last year he had a stretch of 4 games where he had 20+ touches and in 2011 it happened twice, with a stretch of 5 games and a stretch of 3 games.

For comparison this year Cunners has had 2 stretches of 20+ possies, a 9 gamer and a 5 gamer. Last year he had 2 stretches, 3 and 6 games and 2013 he had 1 stretch of 6 games.

If Jack is to be an effective part of our rotation he needs to be consistently more productive and reliable. He is 25 next year and in the middle of his career.

He's shown in the past that hes more than capable of getting the ball that amount of times.

It's his 15,16,17 possesion games that he turns out 10-15 times a year that hurts him.

We shouldn't be comparing him to our worst midfielder, how does he compare to the likes of Selwood, Lewis or even Patrick Cripps?

He needs to step up and part of that is his consistency, it's all down to his game style imo, he jumps on the ground way to much, seeing as hes already not the quickest player around, he puts himself out of so many contests a game.

I'd hoped he'd start to play a bit smarter with more experience, but it hasn't been the case, as I said the next 2 years will define if hes the next Brady Anderson or Anthony Stevens.

As I said, he's spending more time deep forward so that will hurt his possession total, not being around the ball.

He averages almost 15 kicks a game. Doesn't get the outside handball 1-2's as that's not his game.

I like that he and Cunners can be influential forward of centre.

Unlike our captain.

To illustrate why # of possessions doesn't mean much:

On Saturday we kicked 5 goals with 18 touches.

It certainly does mean a hell of a lot.

If we play 100 finals with a -100 disposal differential with this side, we will lose every single one of them by 10+ goals.

It's not the be all and end all and it's certainly more complicated with scoring from turovers and launchng from half back, but the opposition team cant score if you have the ball..........

Don't know if it's the same idiot on SEN - similar to when Jason Cloke missed the grand final (because that's relevant) - "in strife", thinks 3 down to 2.

A fine or one week sounds about right. More and it would be totally be different rules for Jack.
I heard that clown too, don't know his name, but he stated that it should be graded high contact/high impact, and then qualified that by saying the St kilda players reacted accordingly

The opinion is wrong, but it is not an AFL opinion. The AFL media division is operated by the AFL, but it operates independently from the AFL. While there is probably some bias towards the AFL at times on that site, the journos running it are pushing their own barrows, not the AFL's.

The difference between Ziebell and Lewis is that Ziebell hit whoever at roughly the same time as the ball arrived. Lewis hit Goldstein after Goldstein had had enough time between marking the ball and getting whacked to watch an entire season of the Vicar of Dibley.
The AFL should be overseeing this. I'm sure if one of the journos wrote an opinionated article casting negative dispersions over an AFL administrator it wouldn't see the light of day, so nor should this crap.

They'll give him 2 and no one in the league will give a crap because they'll be too focused on bite-gate.
