There will be many questions asked by tiger members if we don't land Treloar. Last yr we came up dry after the trade period, then there was all the boasting about swelled coffers after 3 yrs in a row of record memberships leaving us with $$$ to burn. If we don't land a big gun this yr and end up with only draft picks, i for one will not be a happy member, especially after the club boasted after last yrs trade period about targeting players the following yr and explaining to supporters why they were so inactive during last yrs trade period.
At the end of the day, it has nothing to do with what either club offers, it's all about who Treloar chooses to play for, once he does that, clubs involved will work out a deal.
In fairness to the Tigers, they purposely avoided any trading last year and backed their list in. Good on them to make that call, it's proved successful. There will be many questions asked by tiger members if we don't land Treloar. Heard the massive offer Collingwood have had on the table for Vickery has been pulled as a result of the Treloar deal ?
Sounds feasible IMO , Collingwood get treloar and have no money to try to get Vickery well played by both clubs .
Treloar is not going to choose a club then say no because the deal is not good enough. It's all about who he wants to play for, and as i said, once he does that, then a deal will be worked out. For example, if Trealor says he chooses the pies, he's not going to change his mind and switch to the tigers if the deal is not good enough for gws, he will choose a club, then a deal will be worked out.Don't be silly - GWS wont accept a couple of late first round picks for him. he is no Paddy Ryder.
You have even less to satisfy GWS, unless you are planning to trade up. GWS need picks and your first rounder is lets say pick 15 for arguments sake. That first rounder needs to be in the top 10, at the very least and I expect your side to come top 4 next season too. You recon pick 15 (in a weak draft) plus pick 15 next year will land Treloar? Jeez that is unders.
I know what you're saying, but can you imagine the tiger army if we ended up with nobody other than draft picks whilst other clubs are working there butts of to land a big fish. Anyway, i agree fully with what your saying, and we have done well over the last few yrs after the debacles and poor choices from the previous era's.In fairness to the Tigers, they purposely avoided any trading last year and backed their list in. Good on them to make that call, it's proved successful.
Even if you guys don't get Treloar, I think you'll still get Yarran, and possibly Motlop, who will both compliment your list nicely.

I honestly am not sure where he will end up, but it won't be dictated in any way by what either club are offering up. You are right, it will be very interesting to see what pans out, but once any player decides which club he wants top play for, it won't be influenced by what that club offers. It will be interesting to see how it pans out but if he goes to Richmond I reckon you will burn GWS as you don't have currency.
I do understand your point but just a note. The points allocated to each pick does not slide year to year on "strength" or "weakness" of the draft. GWS only want picks to cover academy players coming in.
Collingwood wants Treloar, so would any other club but there is no way we would give up Grundy.Agreed Pies and Tigers really have nothing to offer a future All Australian to satisfy. But if AT wants to leave GWS need to execute best possible deal.
If Kreuzer leaves on FA and land pick 3 could give it to the Pies or Tigers only Pies come close to give it up for something we might like... Grundy and Sharenberg equal to about 2300 points. Pies can then onforward Pick 3 + Toovey for Treloar and keep pick 7 for the draft and first round pick for next season. They have replaced Scharenberg with Treloar and need to trade someone like Martin with a couple of 2nd round picks and keep pick 7 for someone like Charlie Curnow or Weideman.
Carlton out - pick 3 (2234 points)
Carlton in - Grundy + Sharenberg ( approx. pick 10 + 14 - 2250 points)
GWS in - pick 3
GWS out - Treloar
Collingood in - pick 3, Treloar (approx. 4000 points)
Collingwood out - Grundy, Scharenberg, Toovey (approx. 2800 points)
Only way I see it getting it done is in a three way trade. How badly does Collingwood want Treloar??
Cameron Luke from Trade Week Radio going with Richmond being red hot fav. It's hard to keep up!
They will want a bare minimum of a top 10 pick, absolute minimum. Treloar is worth a top 3-5 selection. You are wanting a Paddy Ryder deal. GWS are not silly. They want picks for points so they don't have to use their own picks. Ideally the Treloar trade for them will pay for Jacob Hopper, Kennedy they should get with a downgrade of their first to a early 2nd.

What I've said I'd offer is 2015 1st and 2nd rounder plus 2016 1st. Hardly a "Patty Ryder deal"![]()
First and second round picks from this yr and next yr would more than satisfy gws.
No, but what i said was, both our first and second picks this yr and next yr.Tell you what...if Dustin Martin wanted out would you accept pick 15 + 2016 pick 15? I doubt it. Treloar will be as good as Martin.
No, but what i said was, both our first and second picks this yr and next yr.
So again, where is the top 3-5 equivalent? Compare that to Collingwood's pick 7 + 2016 first (pick 10)...that is a top 3-5 pick equivalent. You don't have the assets unless you are trading out a player for another late first/2nd. There would have to be some serious steaknives.
I know what your saying, but it actually gets down to who Treloar wants to play for. As i said in a previous post, for example, if Treloar says he wants out of gws and wants to play for the pies, he's not going to change his mind and switch to the tigers if the deal is not good enough for gws, he will choose a club, then a deal will be worked out. Also, draft points value come into the equation so our first 2 picks from this yr and next yr will have good currency as far as gws's academy picks go.Then you will realise what many are saying- you don't have the assets, if you believe Martin is worth a top 5 pick equivalent (he is). You need a top 5 pick equivalent for Treloar, simple. Now that may be a player (talking a good one here) + your pick 15 +2016 pick 15 but the point is you need the assets. At least Collingwood have the assets, which is why GWS will deal with them or Treloar will stay.
If Richmond don't manage to sign a 'big fish' like Treleor, it doesn't mean that they weren't 'working their butts off' trying to make it happen.I know what you're saying, but can you imagine the tiger army if we ended up with nobody other than draft picks whilst other clubs are working there butts of to land a big fish. Anyway, i agree fully with what your saying, and we have done well over the last few yrs after the debacles and poor choices from the previous era's.
The assertion that they deliberately refrained from trading or signing FA's last year is just plain incorrect. They 'worked their butts off' to try and bring Armitage and Trengove to the club, but Armitage chose to stay at St Kilda and Trengove was red-flagged due to injury. In fairness to the Tigers, they purposely avoided any trading last year and backed their list in. Good on them to make that call, it's proved successful.
