Great game yesterday. But still gave away too many free kicks.

A couple of them were trademark dodgy frees against.

It's a shame we never saw him in tandem with Bellchambers, as they look like they could form a good partnership, in theory at least.

given the way free's were being called (at one point i seem to recall a "Free Kick Collingwood" with no explanation), hardly a big knock on him. He does get pinged a lot in the ruck though.

Only played the 10 games but from our reports, he has largely been the most influential of any AFL listed player across the season.

Just must be played before Ambrose, if he's needed as no.1 ruckman some weeks so be it but don't drop him when he's not required to be no.1 ruckman.

You might be onto something because Mitch Brown had a very good year as well.

Will be very serviceable and just what we need him to do in his role. Not everybody has to be a superstar or all Australian.

Gotta love the boy, he'll do something stupid but then make up for it with a touch of brilliance. IE, you take the very good with the bad.

he's played less than 50 games
think his improvement has been impressive. sometimes a player just needs some confidence, and he seems to have been getting it

Going out on a limb here - but Smack is at least an equal replacement of Ryder around the ground. A bit short on hit outs, but his disposal and ability as a link up player is very good.

Averaging almost 5 uncontested possessions per game more than Ryder.
If you look at other stats Smack is at least the equal or better in most.
Hit outs is the same between them both.

Good argument that Smack was best on in the 10 or so games he played in the first half of the year.
