Traded James Aish [traded to Collingwood for #26 and St Kilda's 2016 second round pick]

IF Freeman leaves and nets us Saints 2nd then we might package that to you with our own current 2nd pick. So before any priorities or compensation that would be 23 & 25 (2 early 2nd rounders) this year for Aish. Fair?
Those picks get pushed down 4 or 5 spots, due to Academy and FA compensation picks. So pick 23 and 25 becomes 27 and 29 in a weak draft. Besides we just have to wait a little longer, Aish hasn't requested a trade yet. He might be off to Adelaide or Hawthorn. If he wanted to go to Collingwood, he would have declared it ages ago.

I reckon we are going to trade Aish for Hawthorn's Pick 18 + Suckling. We are super keen on Suckling for some reason.

Astbury is rejoining Leppa at Brisbane.

Astbury + y = Aish

Solve for y.

Astburyy != Aish, regardless of how many ys you add to his name. :P

From Brisbanes perspective, much will depend on what they get for Leuenberger and Redden. Leuenberger should net band 2 or 3 compo. That's a early 20's pick either way. I'd think Redden will secure them, perhaps West Coast compo pick for Scott Selwood, probably band 2, and another early 20's pick.

Brisbane will need approximately 4 picks in the 20's to secure Keays and Kipwood should they have bids put on them between 10 - 15.

Their own, Leuenberger pick and Redden pick. Not sure how many vacant list spots they have. 2 X 2nd rounders should assist to complete a 10-15 bid, match and leave Brisbane with another 2nd rounder for another draftee.

Next years 2nd rounder and 2015 2nd rounder may be of more interest than 2 x this year. Not sure what they have coming through next year, by way of academy kids.

Allison next year, potential top 5 pick.

Poor old James must be tired , selling his soul to

Lions
Collingwood
Carlton
Richmond
Crows
Saints
Hawks

Any more takers ?

Guys, Astbury is going to Brisbane, he's already yours.

I don't know anything about the trade itself though. I know we're into Aish so it makes sense for these two guys to be involved in the one deal.
Astbury and second rounder for Aish? Then we could on trade that for another player. Two players for Aish I would do depending on if they were part of our best 22 and positions.

For you lions fans, would you take any of the above.
1. Freeman or Seedsman , plus second rounder.
2 . 2 second rounders.

Provided he passed a thorough medical I'd do freeman plus a second rounder. Don't rate Seedsman as highly.

Would do 2 2nd rounders as long as they were early/mid.

Interview with Greg Swann seemed to suggest that Martin is staying, Mayes is staying (does not have a beef with the club and will not be traded), Redden is staying (will not be traded), Aish is a definite possibility to stay and Leuenberger is fielding offers from the Swans, Essendon, and possibly Fremantle.

Tom Bell is a definite possibility to be recruited, (wants to return to Queensland and has expressed an interest in coming to Brisbane) but is contracted.

I reckon there's a lot of posturing in there. Redden is gone and I think if the Bulldogs paid overs Martin will be gone too. We play hardball, get a good result and cave (similar to the Boyd/Griffin trade last year).

Perhaps. Although Brisbane doesn't have to trade Redden and that's the point he was trying to get across. It would have to be a very good offer for it to happen.

Swann seemed adamant on Martin and Mayes though. if Leuenberger goes, Martin will definitely not be going for obvious reasons.

Notice the lack of "o" at the end of martin and Mayes names.

Confirmed to be going somewhere

Yep Brisbane don't have to trade Redden in the same way Collingwood didn't have to trade Beams last season. It's funny how short some people memories are :drunk:

Well...You didnt HAVE to trade Beams you know.

Here we go again. Beams.

The bottom line is that Collingwood did decide to trade Beams when they got the trade deal they wanted. That doesn't mean there's a subsequent obligation on Brisbane to trade Redden.
