Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

Maybe we are swapping Lennon for Yarran. Lennon hasn't signed a new contract yet... Maybe hasn't been offered a contract yet.
This trade between the blues and Tigers could get done by lunch time the first day. Both sets of supporters could debate the equality of it till the cows come home. But sometimes it's relatively easy. Tigers and blues seem to get trades done between the clubs easily in the past.

Another way to look at it......could Yarran be a big step towards richmond finishing top four in the next couple of years? Or will Lennon? Carlton are rebuilding, this deal seems fair for both parties. Yarran for Lennon should get done.

I reckon your right. I reckon its probably all ready agreed upon to a point. Maybe some hustling over the steak knives. I think it will be our second and a player, what player is the question. I hope its not Lennon though. One of Griffiths, Mcbean, Mckenzie or Astbury with our second i think is fair.

It's doesn't make too much sense if Carlton has already agreed to a trade where they only receive a second round pick. You'd think if that's what was on offer they'd be holding off and waiting for other teams to start bidding.

If the trade has already been managed it would have to be something Carlton is happy with. Which has been said many times over the past few weeks that they rate him a first rounder.

No idea what the trade is or will be
But it was well sorted before Bolton showed up and he's the one saying first rounder
I'm more getting feeling it will be player and or 2nd pick
Can't see it being first because we offered our 2 first rounders for Treloar and we can't do that if we promised it to Carlton

Your feeling means nothing though.

Take into consideration that any fringe player who offer with your 2nd round pick is essentially worthless in rebuild stage we're in. We'll have Weitering, Jaksch, Jamison and Rowe on the list next year and could quite possibly attain Carlilse and/or Plowman. None of which would be pushed out by Astbury.

I'm sorry I forgot I wrote Astbury anywhere ??????????

The thing is again though, Yarran is contracted.

It is a weak draft, meaning a 2nd rounder has little value and Griffiths and Astbury don't have much value either.

He's had a very poor season but Yarran's had 2 or 3 very high level years, playing attacking football and providing rebound from defence in a strong team (2011).

Sure, if he's out of contract, we'd have to accept less than we'd like but given the circumstances, we'll be keeping our cards close to our chest and waiting for the best possible offer - which may not even come from Richmond.

He is contracted, so you can't ship him anywhere you like. He has to agree.

He's come out and said he'll never play for the blues again, so keeping him is not going to happen, no matter what your supporters say about him playing vfl for a year.

It looks like he has the power in this trade, Richmond could happily walk away if the price is too high, Carlton cannot walk away.

If he nominates tigers, we'll be getting him without trading our first or Lennon.

A year ago Yarran came 4th in our bnf after a solid year averaging a goal a game playing as a rebounding defender. His ability hasn't magically disappeared, otherwise Richmond wouldn't be so keen on him.
If a trade has already agreed on, it must be a win win for both sides, which isn't Richmond's 2nd rounder.

I didn't mention shipping him anywhere. If he gets a better offer from West Coast or Freo though, he might reconsider.

Plenty of players have walked out of clubs to play again. It's naive to right off the possibility altogether but I think we'd like to part just as much as Yaz would so it's in both teams best interest to get a deal done.

You might end up trading your first for Yarran and our second. That's a good deal and given the metrics of player trading, seems pretty logical.

You just look at what other trades have been done in past couple of years and it's hard to see Yarran going for pick 32-34 range...he's had some quality seasons and would fit into most clubs.

Gee mate calm down.
Our clubs have had no problems doing deals in the past.
Hampson trade went very smoothly as did the Collins/Grigg swap.
We all like to overrate out own players, it's part of being a fan, but I think even you would realise that Yarran isn't worth pick 12.
He is worth a pick in the early 20's.
We may have to get other clubs involved and thats more than fine, everyone will get a fair deal by the end of it.
Yarran may be contracted but he has stated a desire to move, not uncommon in the AFL these days.
You won't get our first pick, but the deal will get done and everyone will be happy.

Yep. He's not worth pick 12. He's not worth 33 either. Somewhere in between is about right.

I see what you did there. Sorry if they aren't to the standard of Liam Jones.

Just because we have a shit KP, does not mean we want slightly less shit KP. That's not how you rebuild a list. A lot of our players are rubbish, that's obvious, we finished last. Doesn't mean we want more rubbish.

Astbury would still be behind Jamison, Rowe, Weitering (?) and potentially Jaksch though. Hardly what we're looking for.

Griffths would be better but is a worse version of Casboult and you could only play one.

I think a pick upgrade would be the best result for both clubs. SOS has mastered that at GWS.

The trade will most probably be a 2nd rounder and McBean or Lennon. I'd push for both players, either has quite good upside and potential, I'd say well lean towards McBean.
Very agile and athletic forward we need that kicks goals.
Sad to see an elite player like Chris Yarran leave the club when your its Down and out .
But a quality youngster is a good result for us and we can always bundle the pick elsewhere.
Ciao

Hahahahahahahahahaha

There you go. Debate over.

I wonder if former Richmond players and coaches would say the same thing if Yarran was departing the Tigers.
I wonder if Carlton supporters would say the same thing if they were trying to poach someone like Sam Docherty.

maybe a 2nd rounder and McBean, no way a 2nd rounder and Lennon. No way straight swap Lennon. Lennon has massive upside, Yarran has reached his potential, we know what his best is. And 5 years age diff. I will go full Terry Wallace and SPEW UP if our club involves Lennon in this trade, or any trade.

Personally hope the whole deal falls through and he goes to WC, don't need him sulking about the place.
