Would have been much easier had we drafted him when we had the chance. Lot of hype around him, surprised we never picked him up. He went pick 58 and we went Kerridge and Grigg.
Might be cheaper to just fix Kieran Lovell's kicking and draft him? Certainly a massive ball magnet

It is not true, and was never true. Melbourne were willing to part with 2 or 3 plus a player, probably Toumpas, not 2 and 3. Some journo misheard a tip and the media then refused to let it go.

Once 5,000 twitter accounts retweet it, it's hard to stop.

may help clear it up. From 6.45 - Barrett puts it to Mahoney would they use 2 & 3.

"If there is the potential of getting someone like Patrick Dangerfield, we would look to get the deal done,” he said.
“We think we’re really well placed with potential picks and we also think we’re well placed in terms of TPP as well to get the deal done.

So pretty open to interpretation.

Barrett later asks him to rule out using 2 & 3, and again he plays a straight bat.

“Similar to last year, we think if there is an opportunity to bring in players that have got some experience playing in the AFL and have got some games under their belt – then that’s an advantage for us,” he said.
“We certainly recognise – particularly this year – that the top three [draft picks] are really high end talent and it’s going to have to be a very attractive proposition for us to move those picks.
“We’re open to all of those scenarios.”

Never once does Melbourne FC confirm they have offered 2 & 3. They state they've expressed an interest in Patrick and are open to discussions.

This was early on.

Later in Trade Week, Mahoney said

“We just really made one enquiry very early days and it became very clear that he ideally would like to be an Adelaide player.”

After receiving compensation for James Frawley leaving to Hawthorn the Demons now have picks two and three in the draft – both of which are on the trade table if the right offer comes about.

“Clubs know that they (picks two and three) are available but right now we’ve got nothing in front of us that’s tempting us to give up those picks.

Being a good little IT nerd... I wouldn't know... (that's code for I looked on my phone)

I remember an old network admin in Sydney in 2009 sending me a message that won't work WFL. Get back to work [emoji23]
I don't know why I'm fussed. The infrastructure department do it...

We have got serious rocks in our heads if we trade Matt Crouch out now...Thommo could fall off the cliff pretty quick next year...
Lyons would be the one I'd be putting up for trade before Crouch, kid is going to be a gun.
Would rank our fringe mids in this order (as in needing to keep)
1 MCrouch
2 CEY
3 Grigg
4 kerridge
5 Lyons

As in trade Lyons out first etc

And in what is supposed to be a shallow draft I doubt we'll get anyone better.

Recruiters at the very start said that we probably picked him a year early, but thought he'd be better for it having a year with us, as well as being able to get him cheaper. He's a definite retain for me.
I agree he prob won't be delisted but I wonder where he would sit in the draft order if he were available.

As you said they picked him thinking that after this season he would have shot up in calculations. Based on what I have heard that probably wasn't accurate, but that may be because people are reviewing his performance an an AFL listed player rather than a prospective recruit

Note: i haven't seen him play much so would be genuinely interested in if his form backs up the recruiters prediction on his 12month trajectory

If we get Geelongs 2016 first round pick as part of the Danger trade can we on-trade it this year?

It would be interesting if we were trading for Bennell for example and Gold Coast wanted a 2016 first round pick.. Whose would they choose, the Adelaide pick or the Geelong pick we receive for Danger?
Would be a bit of a gamble which could backfire massively
imagine if we said you can have Geelongs but not ours! Talk about sending the wrong signals to fans

So any credible info on potential recruits... I think redden should be target number 1 followed by Menzel, aish and possibly Tim obrien from hawthorn or appeness from freo. Both young KPP. Not getting an go at their clubs.

Based on team selections, I suspect that the club's view is:
1. M Crouch
2. Lyons
3. Grigg = CEY
5. Kerridge

I'm not at all sure who is preferred between Grigg and CEY. I suspect that the club would be happy if either/both found themselves at new homes in 2016.

Yeah, I would have had CEY higher before Phil left us ... he seemed to be building to me.

The question I guess is who are getting in - then you can make some calls on what we need as far as backup goes ...

I think Grigg & CEY were favourites of Phil's.. but not so much with Campo. Remains to be seen what Pyke thinks of them.

I think it's telling that most of them are still out of contract, with Lyons the only exception. I'm surprised that Crouch & Atkins haven't been re-signed yet, much less so about the other 3 (and Wright). I think the club could be planning on having a fairly big turnover this year. The Dangerfield trade will give them the kind of trading commodities that they haven't had for years, and I think they'll be looking to parlay that into several players - the extraneous midfielders being used to sweeten the pot.

Channel 9 news tweeting player close to re-signing and will announce which Geelong player we are after

There were a few that year. Could already have had Murdoch and Talia, and Brad Hill was available as well. Nobody is perfect but that was not Rendells best year. Crouch/Brown trade being the exception.

What year did we pick up Nick Joyce? That was our worst pick for a long time
