Losing Pearce would be a body blow, only decent KPP we've drafted in 15 years and he pisses off after 10 games or so. If that happened I reckon we should officially give up on Taberner as a forward and groom him to be our next key defender, reckon he has the tools. Dawson, Silvagni and Tanner Smith as our only tall defenders semi-capable of playing on gorilla forwards makes me shudder.
I was literally just thinking the same thing. Playing as a defender could actually suit Taberner more. He would have more support back there and wouldn't have to think overthink things. He's a great size, huge tank and a good athlete.
Alex Pearce is uncontracted but I would be looking for a top ten pick in trade to give him up.

Those who know would have identified him very, very early in his AFL level contributions for us this season.AGREE..... Not alot of people will know about him yet but boy they will find out who he is very soon! The kid is a star i said this in a previous post i havent been this excited about a player since fyfes first season!!!

So hypothetically, would we entertain a straight swap of AP for McCarthy?
I can't see APearce seeking a trade given Maca just retired.

I was the one who asked AP whether he was going to sign up, he definitely said hopefully soon we are working out the details.
Now i am worried that GWS have put an offer for him! I hope we don't lose him but my confidence in signing him has gone down if he gets offered decent money elsewhere.
There could be all sorts of reason that we don't know about, including the good old fashion $$.
I can't see why he would want out, but something must be up because we would have certainly put an offer to him by this stage.
My guess is it's just the details that need to be worked out, but the details might not be that minor. The sort of money/length that Bond and co. would have set aside for his contract half way through the year would be much smaller than what he'd be asking and deserve now - it's probably requiring some rearranging of things given we're also trying to make room for some serious dealings with the likes of Bennell and McCarthy.
