North giving up 14 for Anderson are taking the piss aren't they?? What a silly club.

Says plenty that so many clubs seem quite willing to trade out of this draft after pick 13 or so.

We are very, very lucky to have access to Hipwood and Keays.

Depends if they rate who would be available at 14 (which may be 18-19 after academy bidding) as being a better long term proscpet than Anderson. That should be the basis of trade value: Where would that player go in the draft if they were available. Reckon 14 is about right.

But we get fcked over every year, year after year. We need to stand up and stop coping this shit. Retention allowances academy bidding young players pissing off. Enough is enough.

That is what the Aish stance is all about....

Huh? He was offered a contract and didn't sign it while it was still on the table. We then made a list management decision by withdrawing the contract and spelling out to Jed the scenario. Does compassion in this instance = being offered a contract despite not fitting in to the club's future?
Ex-captain and all you'd have thought he'd done enough to get another year. Whether he did or didn't sign the deal mid year is irrelevant to the point i was making.

I actually don't mind it. He is worth probably a late pick, so maybe a touch over. But he is the kind of player North need to bring in. Harvey and Wells are nearly finished. Probably rate him higher than who will be available around 15.

So what is your point then? Are you in favour of screwing over long term servants of the club or not?

So what happen with Adcock then, he did the right thing by the club for a long time, he wasn't treated with compassion.

World of difference between getting someone to their club of choice versus handing over more salary cap space to them.

Why was he leaving?

Because after years of repeated injuries, he lost his spot as our lead ruckman, and was forced into playing a position that he isn't capable of playing. Wouldn't you explore your options?

It was the obvious career move.

In your oipinion do u think the club will let Aish walk for nothing if we dont get the deal we want?

Absolutely. The Pies need to make it worth our while, or he goes to the draft. With Carlton having the first pick and keen on him, i think there is little chance he gets to the Pies. Now is the time. We don't NEED to trade him to get our academy kids. If he was requesting Carlton who hold the pick before us in the PSD, it would be harder to make the threat. All the variables line up for us to make a stand with him. We would look silly if it was a player wanting to return home due to homesickness, family reasons or if the requested club had a higher pick than us. He just prefers to play for someone else. Exactly the kind of attitute we want to stamp out.

Then the point you were making wasn't clear.

Are you sure that is the case???

Am I sure? Not 100%. But then again I'm never 100% sure on anything. Pretty sure I've seen it reported recently.

And we continue to sit still nothing happening whilst watching everyone go past us....
I'm really not sure what you're getting at.
So what happen with Adcock then, he did the right thing by the club for a long time, he wasn't treated with compassion.
He was offered a contract, let's not forget that.
Yep. Sit on our hands as usual and wish/hope things were better. Typical mentality of us really.
In this case, there's not a lot we can do. If we try to hold Leuenberger to ransom, the most likely scenario is that we piss him and probably a few others off for little-no gain.

It's starting to look like all the weak draft talk from draft watchers is actually being backed up by the actions of clubs for once. Not great for us given that teams want more for players like Bell, Casboult, Astbury etc who normally wouldn't be worth much.

Geez that backfired a little didn't it, re what is happening with Leuy. We tell him his not wanted trying to get pick 3 or an early 20's pick and because of Essendon's low contract offer we end up with pick 39. Wow.............that stings. Would rather have him as back up than lose him for so late a pick. Very poorly executed by the club.

Not sure why you are blaming the club on this one, it was the Players who wanted Free Agency and the Players who can pursue it if they wish. Burger knew as well as anyone that he was behind Martin so it was in his best interests to seek a more secured position elsewhere.

"Sometimes you just have to cop it sweet. It's not weakness, it's reality."

Quote of the year. Sums up just about everything that's happened this year.

Cheers - I hope you're right :thumbsu:

Yeah but we get more top end value out of this draft than pretty much any other non-expansion club.

How was he not treated with compassion, he was sat down and told the truth, he wasn't part of our future next year, got to play a final game in front of his home fans and his manager in turn had all the time in the world to find him a new home if anyone is interested. Fair finish for a fair player.

Sounds like you are making up stories. Seems a more likely scenario was the club (eyeing off pick 3 in the draft) said to him listen Leuy, Martin has taken over your spot and you don't look like getting it back, we'd suggest you explore your options at the end of the year. Now if the club thought pick 39 was the compo for Leuy do you really think he'd be leaving the club? Not likely, his far more valuable than that. The club c@cked this one up.

Sounds like you are making up stories.

Me back at the first part of the season.

Leuey has looked like a pretty obvious free agency departure for a while now. And who could begrudge him.

Has been loyal through thick and thin, injuries, staph infections etc but it just has never got going for him here.

Good chance to make some good coin somewhere else as a lead ruckman at a club that doesn't play on a cricket pitch.

Would be sad to see him go, but totally understanding.

Told the truth hey, youth policy wasn't it, yet we are looking at Stevie J.......please. I love the club but they can stuff things royal sometimes.
