I am going with what the club doctor ,the specialist and dotorc Peter Larkins said.

why don't you tell us all how you know it is the clubs fault Hawkins wasn't able to play in the QF final ?

Because for the most important game of the year, our most important player wasn't available. Despite playing the week before when he clearly struggled. And the week before. And so on.

Unlike virtually everyone else, at a professional organisation, I expect accountability. You do well, you get deserved praise. You do poorly, you cop deserved criticism. It's not hard to understand. For most anyway.

I think to celebrate being a BF member for 10 years next year ,I am going to write a book of all the stupid things I have heard on this forum . Sadly its going to end up being longer than the bible .

I will make sure that the idea of people without medical degree deciding that the club is responsible for a player having a bulging disc gets a mention .I will also mention that posters on bigfooty discovered that a home and away game is more important than a finals game and that the Geelong coach was not aware of this .

The book will be titled the tragedy of internet access for everyone.
Am enjoying it geelong_crazy, keep em coming!

We all know that he missed the QF and played the week before professor , tell us how u know that playing against Brisbane caused him to miss the QF ?

mate some posters on this forum talk about the Geelong Football club like its a some type of kindergarten playground that needs their supervision.
and some posters talk about issues like they are the only person that could possibly be correct, instantly dismissing any point of view that is different...

Like he is Robinson Crusoe there!
Not at all, but he has no issue at all taking pot shots at others so I'm sure he can cop getting some back

Of course, same goes of all of us-but if I read back over the last few pages of this thread, strikes me that most posters are just arguing tenaciously, and that is fair enough for mine.

I'm happy to change my view of Scott (to lurch back on topic) in an instant when we start making and winning finals again. Until then, I continue to have concerns over some aspects.

Yep, and fair enough.
Although I am not as concerned as you, happy to say I don't know yet if he will make a good coach but think the debate has been healthy by and large.

And am expecting to make finals and win a couple of them next year! If we don't improve it will be concerning.

Brian Cook is expecting top 4 next year, seeing as Scott already failed to meet Cooks expectations in 2015 could this mean the end for Scott if we don't make top 4 next year? I reckon we might just sack old tactically inept corporate middle management himself if he doesn't meet expectations in consecutive years.

No. He won't be sacked for failing to get top 4 in 2016.

Perhaps not, but anything less than a top 8 finish and at least one finals win must be considered a failure after this off-season. You can't sell the club's future for no results.

The club has conveniently employed someone as DoC who clearly has the credentials to be a senior coach himself.

I agree about top 8. We need to make finals and win one to justify our trading. Quite confident he'll see out his contract, this club doesn't strike me as the type that will boldly sack a coach.

As for the DoC, rather than shooting from the hip that he's here to replace Scott like someone in here is, I'm going to wait and see exactly what his role entails first.

I have no problems with Scott. Barring this last season I think he's over-performed for us every season and this last season I think had a lot to do with squad imbalances. His one failing has been making bad bets on ruck men, other than that he's done a pretty darn good job.

Well I'm just making logical conclusions, you don't employ a guy with quite open senior coaching ambitions and said guy wouldn't want to come to the club unless he's going to be having an extremely large impact and play an important role in our coaching group or he is in place as a successor to Scott. To say he's at the GFC to do neither really defies logic.

If the club doesn't win a final this year than without doubt its a failure without doubt .

As for the DOC don't get hang-up on the name , its no different to a senior assistant or second in charge .Most coaches have a right hand man and all clubs want good assistant coaches .

He is going to be the second in charge .If Geelong move up the ladder this year than it helps his prospects if becoming a senior coach greatly .

The chance if him becoming a senior coach at Geelong is next to none .If Scott was to leave at the end of the year I would have my money on Ling to get the job.

This is actually incorrect .Lets look at Brian Cooks most recent comments on his expectations.

“It’s going to take a little bit of time and it’s going to take a fair bit of resilience from our supporters.

“I just hope that through these minor setbacks and minor hardships that there is a positive reaction from our supporters because it has been a pretty good ride for 10 years.

“It can’t last forever and we know that equalisation does take its toll.”

Clearly Cook did not have expectations for us to make the finals this year.

Back in 2010 and 2011 Cook did say that Scotts appointment was as much about 2015 as 2015. In fact Scott himself also said it was as much about 2015 as 2011. When they said this what they meant was its as much about the future as it is about the present .There was never an expectation for us to make top 4 in 2015.

Among tough competition, that's close to the (appropriately) craziest thing I've heard. Based on what? I guess the examples of Voss and Hird are pretty tough to argue against.

After considering applications through February, the AFL has locked in nine coaches to start the level four course, which will become mandatory for those applying for senior positions in the future.

“The course centres around four key components – core coaching modules, an individual learning plan, a program for high impact leadership and individual coach mentoring,” AFL football operations manager Mark Evans said.

“The core modules will address areas including rules, regulations, governance, integrity, government relations and the economy of the game. Other modules will address quality coaching practice, strategic communications, media training and ethical leadership,” he said.

I guess that rules out Cameron for a while yet, unless of course he's planning on doing the course and is selected. So far I haven't heard a peep on that front.
