Yep Bobbies 100th that week. Rooch on the radio the next day saying "give us something worthy to write about". Never forget.

Yeah, Craig Hutchison had a go at him about it and that was Rucci's response. It was at the height of all the negativity being written about us and KT had closed up shop on all the leaky sources coming out of the club. The Advertiser's response was to completely ignore us, giving us no air time. So professional.

I also remember hearing on the sports show one of the reasons Bobby didn't get an article was because Boak had one the week before for his 100th. What a ****ing time.

You are probably right, but, those people that know little about footy, that form the potential convert, are influenced by daily media.

I wouldn't want anyone who still reads the ****ing newspaper as a member anyway.

:p

A solitary flag in 80 years of competition, in a league where their rivals can be accounted for with a quick finger tally. It's not witchcraft, it was just mathematically impossible for them to not jag one!
But let's keep South Adelaide and their 3 supporters: one of which is a dog, in the competition, and get rid of Port Adelaide.

As a southern lad growing up in the middle of what would purportedly be South heartland, all my friends/acquaintances were Port, Glenelg and Sturt fans. There were literally TWO (2) South fans I knew of at my school.

Was one of them Mike Rann?

To this day, I wonder how many diehards claim to be members of the South Adelaide cheer squad.

Had the nerve to call himself a Port fan in the AFL. I have a good mind to slap him in the face with a rolled up newspaper.

"It was friendly, it was flirty, go Panthers"

stop making the Advertiser seem useful

The Advertiser is useful.

I put it at the bottom of my parrots cage so instead of having to cleaning up all the poo from the cage itself, I just take out the advertiser which has been collecting the poo and throw it straight into the bin.

I then take out another couple of pages and replace the old pages on the bottom of the cage.

I can get about 1 or 2 months out of a single days Advertiser.

I'm 43 and I know one south supporter. One. This in itself is probably not unusual, but I have been living in Happy Valley which is in the South zone, for the past 11 years. How is this possible?

Lining one's bird cage with Graham Cornes articles seems appropriate :-)

I don't know if this will be borne out by statistics/demographics, but South moved to Noarlunga and tried to really capture that catchment a good 10-20 years too late.

Rather than being a 'southern Centrals', it's the SFL that captures the heart beneath the AFL. Pretty much every footyhead I know had/has some sort of affiliation with an SFL club and as the nineties progressed, when they weren't supporting Port, Adelaide or Other, they were fully immersed in their Happy Valley/Flagstaff Hill/Christies Beach/Hackham/Lonsdale affiliation.

South Adelaide is caught in some sort of bizarre reverse Field Of Dreams-purgatory, where they built it and no-one came.
