Oh but Doss.... So MANY of them do! Guess you and Lance are the lucky ones that broke free! ;)
Don't be silly.

People who post here don't make up the majority of a club. And the public line used by a club in a situation doesn't sum up the views of all, or even most, of a membership.

I am of course, referring to the ones IN HERE. Reckon I'm pretty spot on.

I think there was a lot of ignorance in club land before this happened despite lectures from ASADA that happen every year that probably just became part of the timetable. Hopefully a lot less so now.

Really? I would think intentionally doping would be more damning but each to his own.
It's deliberate for PR reasons as well. Like Gordon et al saying there was no new evidence. Either he is the stupidest man alive or he has his head in the sand.

You think? Doss, DapperJong, DapperDon, Mxett, 60sBomber, Bunk, Lance, DonsRule, Bombfire, Yaco, Tesla, MWNN ... shared interest and sympathy certainly, and at least one shared dream, but alike or even similar?
Don't really see it.

(I do know you were being a bit facetious etc - but I don't think that your case is supported.)

Didn't an English King once start his own religion just to get the outcomes he wanted
No.

The Church of England was already looking at separation from Rome, due to theological reasons. Henry V111 just gave some political support due to wanting an annulment.

No new religion was formed - Anglicans are still Xian. Just no longer Roman Catholic - and based on Reformed Theological Doctrines (although the Anglican Church is truly a broad church, in that it contains many streams of different theologies and practices).

Having said that - the EFC Drugs scandal is a shameful episode for the club, its leaders, players, fans, the AFL and it's associated bodies such as AFLPA; and also for much of the media.

That's because you've slept with the enemy for so long, you can't see the blurred lines. ;) Some of those you mentioned have been horrendous. While a few have been reasonable. There were many, many more that were just mind bogglingly stupid. (As there were on this side of the fence, though having said that, they ended up right in the end. ) In the context in which it was meant, facetious or not, I was IMO, accurate in my assessment.

This is almost my point. It boggles the mind that they would omit this information when asked by a DCO, after all the anti-doping education they receive. Hell, even if the ASADA secretary rang me up I'd certainly be given them all the information they asked for! Considering the harsh penalties for a misstep, why would you take the risk?
So why didnt they disclose any substance? If I was cheating I'd disclose everything bar TB4

Shameful episode for the fans?

It's a terrible time for the club. A shameful period for the Essendon Football Club, yep.

A shameful episode for me or for the fanbase? No, not even slightly. That's silly. The only ones who've brought shame on themselves have been the ones who taken it too far in posting threats and abuse against people like Kaias and a couple others. And, might I add, there have been more than enough disgraceful barbs come the other way that I think the balance is well and truly equal.

But me as a fan? No, I'm holding my head high and getting on with it. I don't feel bad or shamed because someone on the Internet thinks I should. I'm very upset with my club, but I'm not ashamed of myself as a fan.

Glad to know you've got a file on all of us, Jen.

It's also just the Internet. Don't presume you're in a position to understand the fullness of someone's views or personal ethos from it, just like I wouldn't with you or anyone else. No, what I've seen has been a wholesale characterising of the debate as "oh well, just keep supporting Hird" to any Essendon supporter in a wide cross section of debates when the reality is, that person might well have stopped backing Hird a long time prior.

Hell, I still have people tell me to console myself over Hird's departure even though he lost my support in 2013.

Oh for heavens sake. I am just talking about behaviour displayed in here. I wouldn't for one minute presume to know what any of you are like in your real lives away from here. Pretty sure I'd be happy to have a drink with most of you.

In your first sentence you say some have been horrendous but some have been reasonable.

Then you talk about others being mind bogglingly stupid.

In your opinion you are ALWAYS accurate in your assessments. And you are of course - because some being reasonable, some horrendous and some stupid obviously equates to a supporter group that is exactly the same.

This is sad now, not funny at all. Spend your 20 minutes a day better maybe?

Oh ffs, what is wrong with you? I didn't say ALL Essendon supporters are this way. And I qualified my statement by saying I'm referring to those IN HERE. clearly I don't know ALL Essendon supporters. Jesus.

I didn't say every fan. But I would also think most EFC fans are ashamed, wouldn't you?

I also sort of agree with the Carlton supporters who consistently point out the differences in how their supporter base acted WRT their SCap stuff. EFC fans could have been far more proactive - even now they seem very reluctant to stand up and condemn the club for its shameful behaviour.

There is no contrition, even from fans. And all the fans I have had contact with will brook no dissent on the ethical failings of the club and players. Some have still not woken up to Hird.

Of course, this is no doubt magnified in my mind and many others, b/c the moral bankruptcy of what went on has been so clear to so many non-EFC people; and they having been trying to tell EFC people about it for four years!

No I wouldn't.

We are just fans and it is just football.

The rest of your post is so chock full of generalisations that I'm not even going to bother.

because the CFC SC issues were irrefutable from the get go. If 34 Essendon players had tested +ve to a PED in 2012 you would have seen a far different reaction
