Here's my round 1 team from what I've seen in the NAB

B Buckley Jamison Weitering
HB Docherty Rowe Tuohy
C Boekhorst Cripps Simpson
HF Wright Everitt Murphy
F lamb Casboult walker
R kreuzer Gibbs kerridge
INT Phillips E.Curnow Graham Whiley

EMG Thomas Gorringe White

Plowman hasnt played a nab challenge game yet has he? I know he was a high draft pick but would have liked to have seen him play a game before round 1.
Seems he's still being held out of full training, so he's a slim chance for the curtain raiser for the Tigers game (Richmond VFL vs Northern Blues at Punt Rd Oval).

Sumner should be right to play in that unless there's a setback.

Reckon this will be the round 1 team:

FB: Tuohy - Jamison - Weitering
HB: Docherty - Rowe - Simpson
C: Boekhorst - Gibbs - Kerridge
HF: Walker - Everitt - Thomas
FF: Wright - Casboult - Lamb
R: Kreuzer - Cripps - Murphy
Int: Graham - E. Curnow - Phillips - Buckley

As much as Rowe has been poor, having him in the side allows he and Jamo to take the two key forwards and Weitering can zone off a little and intercept mark / use the ball going out of D50. This plays to his strengths and protects him a little too (not that it seems he needs it).

Chose Buckley over White as the 22nd player because I think Bolton will prefer the run of Bucks, despite not being as good defensively as White IMHO.

Otherwise, it's a fairly balanced team with good inside grunt (Cripps, Graham, Curnow) and outside players (Murphy, Gibbs, Boekhorst) in the middle and we can just tell Kerridge 'See ball - get ball' as needed.

Forward 50 pressure should be good with Lamb, Wright, Buckley and Thomas all being up there at some point, and if Everitt pulls his finger out, he could provide a good second target and perhaps ensure Richmond aren't just double-teaming Casboult at every opportunity.

We should do OK in the ruck and at stoppages with Kreuzer and Phillips. Maric will provide a tough contest for Kreuz, but when Phillips goes up against their second ruck, it should be an opportunity for a clearance every time.

Within a few weeks, I would love to see Plowman breaking into the backline and Byrne forcing his way onto the park too. Only problem for the Irishman is who does he replace? Plowman has Rowe's spot for the taking, but I'm not sure who Byrne should come in for to be honest. Perhaps Thomas if his form doesn't pick up to where it should be? Perhaps even sending him forward in the place of Everitt if he's in the same situation. I know there is a distinct size difference, but with the way Everitt plays, it's not that much of a factor.

Now we just need 15 of our starting 22 to play better than they did in the NAB challenge and we should have a good chance against the Tigers! ;)

While at training, does Lamb just weave around players and slot goals continuously while whistling the Harlem Globetrotters music, or is there another reason why those in-the-know pick him without a moment's hesitation?

If it's because of his NEAFL form, into the sea with all of you.

Tuohy - Jamison - Weitering

E Curnow Graham White Kerridge

That's my team. I think Boekhorst seems a natrual wingman, and might be a good idea to push Simpson up field from defence. Free him up to use the ball into attack. Put Buckley in his position, as he plays a similar role. Less skilful, but as we have seen he can be explosive with his run and tackling. Casboult at the top of the square gives him a chance to take his big marks, Walker in the pocket as he is very good leading up field. Everitt can use his movement at CHF. Kerridge I see not staying at HFF. Perhaps start, but will rotate around the ground into centre, deep forward and on ball. I like Gibbs in the centre of the field, he can use his skills to hit targets inside 50, and is a long kick so he can score from 60 if he needs to or top of the square. It would be good to free Tuohy up, because he can kick a big goal. White can come off the bench and free Tuohy up the field by taking his medium defender role.

would anyone like to see Tuohy used on the forward flank? he has learned defense, let's use his kicking as an offensive weapon

If we want to have some forward pressure, we will need guys like Lamb and Wright up there. They are my picks for the small forwards along with any mid resting there and perhaps Thomas etc going forward for stints.

Ball handling is the most underrated skill in the game, clean hands buy that extra second of time that separates the really good players from the rest. This is Lamb's biggest asset. Same for Clem Smith. Both should be given every chance to fill that defensive forward spot.

He's got to get to the contests and out manoeuvre his opponent(s) first.

Lamb did that with his handball to Cripps for his goal.
The tackles were quality and repeat efforts impressive.
He may be playing his role in what he has done to date but a 15 possession, 3 goal game would raise his stocks significantly.

There are just so many players we really don't know a lot about just yet; Plowman, Lamb, Sumner, Phillips, Gorringe and even second year players to the club in, Whiley, Jaskch, Smith, Viojo-Rainbow.

You'd like to think that at least 4 of the above will make it.....you'd like.
