Insult is too strong a word. As usual in screen adaptations of books, the books are simply better.

I should've known you'd see it that way, if you reckon you could do a better job of converting five sprawling novels into a single TV show I'd like to see you try. Of course the books are "better", books always are because they can describe what's going on inside the characters heads without them having to say it aloud or resort to a cringey voiceover.

More the point the TV show has a ton of stuff missing from the books, many of the characters are way more fleshed out, like those awesome scenes between Arya & Tywin. Yeah its overly sexed up & there's too much emphasis on comic book violence but with Yanks in charge that's always going to happen, at least we don't have American accents to deal with. Just enjoy the show for what it is dude.

Book purists can GAGF as far as I'm concerned.

GOT is one of the few books i've stopped reading before i got to the end. I will finish it some day if i can work out where i was up to. I wondered what was going on with the 3 page descriptions of food and feasting until i saw the author.

Books are better with Dorne, the riverlands, the north and Stannis's entire story arc. The show has done great scenes especially with Osha, Tywin/Arya, The battle of the wall, the viper v the mountain, red wedding and blackwater.
