I dont see us giving Armo a 3yr contract late last year then turning around & saying we want to trade you. If someone came to us & wanted Armo, i think we would see what the offer is, but otherwise, i doubt we would be the ones instigating the dealI dont believe we can afford to trade Billy Longer. Hickey is going well but lets remember how fragile his body has been in the past. For me Billy is the only other ruckman who could step up and be a finals player. Holmes is just a cheap stop gap and Peirce still has a way to go.
The reason I suggested trading Armitage is I believe the new rules and limited interchange have worked against him. He was never been a great aerobic athlete and seems to be struggling more this year with the extra workload. I believe he played his best footy last year and will continue to further struggle with the new pace of the game and will be replaceable before too long. Consequently I believe he is the perfect player to trade to someone like GCS in a player exchange. David has always maintained he would return to QLD after footy so he would be the perfect fit.
So if we can get a fit JOM, Prestia or similiar in the deal it would be the perfect fit for both clubs and prevent us from having to give up a 1st round pick. We can still go to the draft with our 1st pick and look at more midfielders.
Then with the development of other mids and if we can shake Hurley out of Essendon and with Carlisle returning and Freeman reaching his potential, I dont belive we would miss David as much as people believe. Tough decisions but I think if would be to our benefit in the long term!
