I wish the media wouldn't ****ing buy into to all this bias/evening things up bullshit.
Umpires are not biased. They don't look at free kick counts. They don't try to even things up.
Suggesting that they do is actually disrespectful to their job.
There is such a thing as poor umpiring, and I've got nothing against criticisms of poor umpiring.
I really wish the media wouldn't look for some sort of ulterior motive or internal driving force for poor umpiring. I know, they're the media, but they actually shouldn't and that sort of media talk and pressure makes their job actually harder.
You can criticise individual decisions, and you can criticise fundamental aspects of umpiring as a whole, such as the directives of interpretations, their positioning and quality, educate umpires better to how to avoid statistically proven home bias, and/or make suggestions like whether the AFL should pay more to umpiring to allow it to be a full time profession, especially with their new influx of money coming next year with the rights deal.
But actually questioning their motives or believing that there's some sort of biased directive or conspiracy involving umpires... like Bev said it's disgusting. The footy media should be better than that.
