Interesting.

I actually don't mind Grimes (and have previously expressed interest in McDonald) if Enright pulls the pin.

*cue injury prone whines*
Yes I wouldn't mind Grimes either as free agents one of them would be handy. McDonald not being f/a I can't see us getting. I think we need to retain as much of our list as we can. And just continue to add through the draft and f/a. Injuries would be a concern with Grimes but you'd think he wouldn't come with a big price.

If they do remove the rookie list at the end of the year. It'll be interesting to see how that effects Geelong's list. Which group would be most effected? The veterans, developing players or players with injury history?

Jetta would be a good fit for us.assume that if he leaves melb he goes back to WA though.
Freo isn't a club that either attracts much talent or at the moment is a club you'd want to go to. Do the Eagles have a need for a small defender? Probably most clubs do and they'll probably try to trade out a tall defender. It'd certainly be alarming for Dee's that he hasn't signed. Hopefully the Cats are having a word to his manager.

The future or otherwise of the rookie list for next season may depend upon how quickly the new CBA is settled. The current one expires nominally on 31 October, but continues in force after that if the new one is not yet settled.

If Sydney are feeling the pinch salary cap wise instead of Rohan what do peeps think about getting Mitchell instead in and under player who would be handy help to Danger and Selsy...

Yep, definitely!

The eagles is where i was thinking yes.

No chance in hell we could afford Mitchell, on decent money at Sydney and we couldn't pay what other suitors will offer.

Not sure,he strikes me as likely to be after money and less likely to want to fit into our payment structure. I also dont think slow inside mid is a big need for us,if we spend big i would rather do so on replacements forcour ageing backline.

No doubt would be a luxury to have 3 in and under type players, dont think our backline will be a problem, more the forward line need to find some talls to develop without the pressure on them as doubt Vardy and Kersten will be a No.1 when Hawkins steps down

Which story of the O'Meara saga do people believe? Yesterday version that he has an asking price of $750kmper season, or today's version where his manager said there is no price and that he won't be talking to any clubs (Suns included) until after he has games under his belt this year?

I think Jetta is exactly the type of player we need to chase as a RFA.

Upgrade on Bews and would slot in nicely with Thurlow and Ruggles and form a solid trio of small but attacking defenders post Enright and Mackie.

It also allows Guthrie to stay as a 70/30 mid/defender

Would be out of our price range you'd expect

Anyone see Footy Classified where Hutchy again brought up the idea of Gary Ablett playing elsewhere next year?
Caro, Barrett, and Lloyd all questioned him on why he keeps bringing this up, and that he was getting this from someone. Caro said everyone knows Hutchy works with Liam Pickering and they are close friends, and when Hutchy said this wasn't Pickering's opinion, Caro said she found that hard to believe, that it must've come from Liam Pickering and she was amazed. Lloyd pointed out that Hutchy was right about Franklin (same manager).

Hutchy said: "I would think if Geelong went to him with a scenario where they could get him back to Geelong, without any damage contractually or emotionally, he would take it."

We know that would never happen, the only interesting aspect is the other three being convinced Hutchy keeps bringing it up in public because it's coming from Pickering/Gaz.

Dangerfield Selwood Ablett

We didn't piss off Johnson one year to bring in Ablett the next. He'll be 34 next year.
And still about 34 times the player Johnson is.

But won't happen. It is fantasy constructed by Hutchy types because it has media currency.
