James Gwilt is absolutely shocking. No awareness, no footy brain, no nothing.
The Clarke brothers were kind of exciting at the start, but got more frustrating as their careers went on. I think they are both rather successful coaches now, though. The Saints had some absolute shockers in the early 2000s, as well.

Not sure where you're coming from there Gimp. Named in Melbourne's best 150 players of all time. For the oldest club who have a premiership total in double digits, this isn't a bad achievement. Played in the Balme/Daniher era too when Melbourne went ok and played finals regularly. Was an absolute gun junior. Carved it up at U/19 level.as a 15-16 year old on a regular basis. Injury curtailed his senior career but still managed over 100 games. Could find it, use it and hard as a cat's head. Long way from the worst. Wore number 15 from memory
I think i just loved the look of his number underneath his armpits and as a kid growing up i used to call him Paul Hopbad.. hardly remember any game he ever played to be honest. So i took a stab in the dark and said he was s..t.

Re James Gwilt, didn't he finish top 10 in the BnF the year you made the grand final? Bit harsh IMO.

I scanned through to see if anyone had mentioned Laffy. Seriously the most unco-ordinated unlikely looking footballer I've seen.

All Richmond fans will thank you for bringing his memory back.:eek::eek::eek:
Wasn't he The Mole in one series of the reality show?

Caydn Beetham was the worst I've seen from the Saints in recent times. A pick 9 with no skills, no motor and no speed.

Ted Fidge was pretty bad from memory, struggled to keep his place in a crap Melb side during the early/mid 80s. Was heavily suspended for clocking Millane, that'd be his only highlight.

My first thought when I saw this thread was toward some of Carlton's sides after the salary breaches. Well actually it was Cain Ackland, but then I checked out some players who have played over 50 matches or the Blues.

O'Hailpin, Aaron Joseph, Paul Bower, Hampson, Trent Hotton :drunk:, Bannister, Cory McGrath, Trent Sporn.

They were some tough times for the old dark blue-baggers.
You're wrong on Hotton - was a very reliable 2nd ruck in 2000 and 2001 when we went 30-14.
