Magner wasn't too bad in his short stint at Port Melbourne. Definitely a VFL level player, though.Chris Egan or James Magner. The laughs never stopped with those two.
I think i just loved the look of his number underneath his armpits and as a kid growing up i used to call him Paul Hopbad.. hardly remember any game he ever played to be honest. So i took a stab in the dark and said he was s..t.Not sure where you're coming from there Gimp. Named in Melbourne's best 150 players of all time. For the oldest club who have a premiership total in double digits, this isn't a bad achievement. Played in the Balme/Daniher era too when Melbourne went ok and played finals regularly. Was an absolute gun junior. Carved it up at U/19 level.as a 15-16 year old on a regular basis. Injury curtailed his senior career but still managed over 100 games. Could find it, use it and hard as a cat's head. Long way from the worst. Wore number 15 from memory
Never heard of this Joe Danniher bloke but Essendon has a youngster with a similar name, Joe Daniher, who is pretty good if you ask meJoe danniher. So much hype so little talent. Livong off a name only.
Re James Gwilt, didn't he finish top 10 in the BnF the year you made the grand final? Bit harsh IMO.James Gwilt is absolutely shocking. No awareness, no footy brain, no nothing.
The Clarke brothers were kind of exciting at the start, but got more frustrating as their careers went on. I think they are both rather successful coaches now, though. The Saints had some absolute shockers in the early 2000s, as well.
Jason Laycock
One of the few Essendon players I genuinely dislikedNot the worst player I've seen, but always thought there was a "z" missing in his surname.
Rate Petrie higher than Mackie. At least Petrie has had a hard ball get. I always think how would these blokes go in a weak side. Petrie would still do well. Mackie on the other handBefore or after Drew Petrie? High degree of spudness.
Michael Laffy from Richmond, late 1980s.
Wasn't he The Mole in one series of the reality show?I scanned through to see if anyone had mentioned Laffy. Seriously the most unco-ordinated unlikely looking footballer I've seen.
All Richmond fans will thank you for bringing his memory back.![]()

Simon Crawshay was worse.Nah, we had worse players than McCabe.
Krummel for starters.
Richard Tambling was horrendous. Even worse was that the Crows actually traded for him after he'd been so horrible.
If he was taken as a rookie pick, would he have played 50 games?
Was given #23 as well. Anyhow didn't play anywhere near 50 games.Simon Crawshay was worse.
You're wrong on Hotton - was a very reliable 2nd ruck in 2000 and 2001 when we went 30-14.My first thought when I saw this thread was toward some of Carlton's sides after the salary breaches. Well actually it was Cain Ackland, but then I checked out some players who have played over 50 matches or the Blues.
O'Hailpin, Aaron Joseph, Paul Bower, Hampson, Trent Hotton, Bannister, Cory McGrath, Trent Sporn.
They were some tough times for the old dark blue-baggers.
