Plus the 2 second rounders (+ another second rounder in 2016), and a 3rd rounder for Aish.

That's overs.......well and truly.

Spoke to a Collingwood bloke who thought that was pretty desperate.

Really?

My recollection is that at the time people though 2 x 2nd rounders for Aish was a pretty good deal for Collingwood, even at worst.

I think the beauty of a Prestia recruitment is that we aren't going to let ourselves get bent over. He'd be great, for sure, but if we can't get him at our price then we'll just go to the draft.

We aren't Collingwood who keep telling ourselves we are in a premiership window regardless of list condition (well, not anymore anyway).

Having him nominate us is a big upper hand to Carlton, no doubt

Agree though one could argue when the opportunity arises to land a 'big fish' who fits everything you want in terms of the type of player and age demographic, and lets say he actually wants to come to Carlton, then it's an opportunity you pretty much HAVE to take...dont you?
Hypothetically if he wanted to come to Carlton, could we really tell Prestia 'sorry mate not interested, you're a gun player and the right age but we're not ready to land a big name player just yet' and see him go to another team?

Also i dont think there's been any confirmation on the $700k salary reports.

Absolutely. If you're not ready, you're not ready.
We never hear of players wanting to go somewhere until it suits both parties for that player to nominate, as it would be utterly foolish to do so otherwise.

We don't think that teams at the top get more than their fair share of door-knockers? You can't take in everyone that wants to go to you.

I don't see why not. A pick in the early 20's would be a reasonable compensation in this years draft for a guy who's out of contract and more or less out the door anyway.
Agree , being uncontracred and further if Prestia nominates the Baggers as preferred and only destination there's very little the Suns can do actually.
The trade will be done.
Go Baggers

GWS list mgr just on road to the draft with Cal Twomey and inferred they want Steele to stay and it seems Tomlinson and Marchbank may be checked out already.

2/4 of the GWS 4 looking good.

What did he say exactly about Tomlinson and Marchbank to make you think they've checked out?

The rumours on here are that they want Steele to stay too...but you'd think he'd say that about just about every player as to not diminish their value unless trades have been agreed to already.

Fair enough.

I guess it all comes back to what we'd have to give up in terms of $$$ and trading...it if was something like $500k a season and give up a second rounder + Everitt for example, then it's a good deal and im sure we'd do it.

If it required giving up our first pick and $700k a season then no.

SOS is the List Manager - we don't actually have Recruiting Manager until after this years Draft, when we will be allowed to officially appoint Paul Brodie, after he has completed his AFL suspension for his AFL gambling transgressions. ;)

What's Brodie doing now? Eating some pies and necking a few crownies, maybe? :)

Would be a little disappointed should have we shackled ourselves to him.

Pick 4* to GWS for their first 15* or Geelongs + Marchbank/Tomlinson/Stewart. (maybe we need another pick and or steak knives)

Pick 15* & Everitt to GC for Prestia.

Tuohy + second rounder to Sydney for Mitchell.

In: Prestia, Mitchell, Tomlinson, Marchbank, Stweart
Out: Pick 4*, Second Rounder, Everitt, Tuohy + another pick/steak knives in GWSMK2

I'd rather that over hitting the draft. Midfield is along way to fixed, Crippa ain't waiting another 1-2 years before he gets support and is being pushed in a wheelchair by E.Curnow at Stoppages, potential for the best backline in the league in 2-3 years and forwards developing with a strong midfield and backline.

If an offer too good to refuse presents then we'll have little choice, but we may have already gone down one path with a view to this and next year.

Who knows for sure?

I'd imagine he'd be doing what he would normally be doing at this time of year .
Has he officially been warned off or just not allowed to officially hold a position this year ?

Brodie would be a great assest and huge support to Cripps.
At pick 4 there's real talent it's very exciting , we need a quality on baller, good play maker, hard worker basically a talented A grade footballer.
Go Baggers

I know we're committed to him, but how did we allow ourselves to be so?

Anyway, guess it will just have to play out and who knows..........he may be the best person for the job........maybe.

If he's the man we want then he's the man we want .
Unless he's been officially warned off for 12 months it's hard to believe it's not business as usual just without the title for 12 months ...

Well the decision making in the last 2 years has improved ten fold on the choices being made in the Kernahan, Swann, Malthouse,Rogers era. Happy to put some faith in the decision making of the current admin.

What possible use would Everritt be to the Suns?

Not convinced that 2e is in the Swans sights. They already have two pretty handy small/mid sized defenders who are younger and cheaper than him.

Might be something like trading 2e for a second rounder & then trading 2 x 2nd rounders for Mitchell.

No chance we land Mitchell & Prestia for mine. I doubt Prestia will bend GC over and refuse to go anywhere else. Could see a deal such as
TRADE: 2017 1st & 23
RECIEVE: Marchbank, Tomlinson & 15(geelong). Add Stewart if GWS want to, not fussed with McKay, Curnow, SOJ, Jacksh, Tomlinson on the list.

TRADE:15, 45(WB 3rd) & Everitt
RECIEVE: Prestia

LAND: Prestia, Marchbank, Tomlinson
LOSE: 2017 1st, 23, 45, Everitt

TRADE BAIT: Touhy & Casboult to try snag a couple of 2nd rounders. Trade into the 1st again eg Bulldogs deal.
Those 3 inclusions with another year of development should see us right in the mix with Richmond, Pies, Saints, Dees, GC imo.
