Thankfully that meant we could get value for our trades as the Pies paid way overs to GWS.

Lions would be thankful that Aish cancelled out some of the hurt from the Doc trade period.
The paddlepops were laughing all the way to the bank with that deal.

GWS list mgr just on road to the draft with Cal Twomey and inferred they want Steele to stay and it seems Tomlinson and Marchbank may be checked out already.

2/4 of the GWS 4 looking good.
If Steele doesn't want to come, we'll just have to force ourselves to accept Ahern :)

You either use your cap space in each year, or you lose it. No way are we paying 100% now. Front end some elite talent that will still be elite in five years time. Prestia sounds like just such a candidate.

I agree, the rebuild needs some foundations. We are critically short of midfielders. We should entertain any candidate that will help us create the right environment for our youngster to develop in. One senior midfielder and another from the draft

And I suspect he'd be pretty good to deal with. If Prestia nominates us then we hand over our second rounder I reckon.
He is - at worst - as good a player as Yaz or Hendo and we rightly asked for first rounders for those two. No way could we expect a second round pick to satisfy GC.

I think the rules changed so that if for instance a club pays 95% this year, they could pay 105% the year after to make up for it.

That's not true nowadays, you can bank a % of your salary cap in a particular year and use at least the next year could be over the following 2 years not sure on the mechanics

You have to use 95% of the cap, so most you can bank is 5% so I'd assume there are quite a few players at the minute with higher salaries this year and next compared to 2018 and ahead

Prestia is more than likely Richmond bound. Gold Coast will demand (rightfully) a first rounder, and we will not pony that up (according to that article in the age)

I don't want Tomlinson TBH, doesn't seem to have the application or nous to become a top shelf player (and i don't really subscribe to the theory he's checked out this season, that's a cop out for his lousy form)

Tomlinson would have checked out 12 months ago I reckon. GWS made a mistake by not accepting the deal we put to them last year.

What possible use would Everritt be to the Suns?

Not convinced that 2e is in the Swans sights. They already have two pretty handy small/mid sized defenders who are younger and cheaper than him.

Rocket has told GC he needs a scapegoat and is willing to pay overs for his favourite of all time.

I guess it all depends on how desperate we are to pair Patty C with Someone of similar age and drive.

Let's face it - Murph is 29 and i think would benefit body wise from being less inside.

Gibbs is Gibbs but I think is better suited as the guy who plays inside and outside

Crippa and Prestia extracting the ball would give the opp team nightmares.......

Pick 5/6 for Prestia and a pick in the mid late teens coming back ?

Prestia would be great to have next to cripps BUT I dont like giving away our first pick, nor will Bolts and SOS. We should at all cost try and keep a pick in the first round. I do like the idea of Prestia to us for and an exchange of picks like 5 for 15 for example. Maybe we can upgrade a few of our second rounders with players movements of Tuohy, Casboult and everett. Anything is possible.

If we end up with Prestia, Tomlinson and a first and second round pick next year I would be ecstatic.

Losses of Tuohy and Casboult although we have built a love for them over the years it is necessary to move on, im beginning to learn this over the last couple of years. Previously wanting to keep our players and that magically they will turn into superstars in Blue, not going to happen.

Tuohy, however, is worth a late first early second to the right buyer if we dont get that his best is elite off half back, maybe a wing/mid next year with the development of byrne, buckley, docherty and plowman, even white has been intercepting alot lately.

This.
Make our offer to the Suns and stick to it.
We could have gotten a first round pick off of Hawthorn for Yazz if he had been willing to entertain other offers. But he stuck to his guns and finally ended up at the club he wanted. If Bitchmond hadn't picked up pick 19, we would have been forced to take their second round pick or not trade him and have him sit out the year in the Bullants... or at home like he has done to bitchmond.

Remember what Hendo was like last year? Tomlinson was on the verge of moving to us last year and he would have been gutted not to have made the move. He will be better for us next year than he is a GWS this year.

I don't think our first pick would be in the frame for Prestia.

Taken pick 9 and hasn't got a body of work behind him (even at 23) to make him worthy of a top 5-8 pick.
And he is out of contract :)

Not sure you watch him closely enough then, PM. Prestia is a jet - behind only Danger and Fyfe for meters gained for inside mids in 2015. Plus he lead the league in clearances last year until his knee injury. He also applies great defensive pressure and tackles like a beast. The only potential question mark would be whether his recent knee injury - which he has been playing with a fair chunk of the year - is related to the one that saw him miss a fair chunk of 2015.

I don't see why not. A pick in the early 20's would be a reasonable compensation in this years draft for a guy who's out of contract and more or less out the door anyway.

Time will tell but I can't see that happening.

Prestia is a very good footballer and I doubt the Suns will see that as adequate compensation. If all we're offering is a pick in the mid 20s I dare say another Victorian club would come in with a better offer.

There has been a bit of talk around here that SOS may be looking to downgrade our first round pick and I can see a Prestia trade tying in to that.

I'd be prepared to send our first pick to GWS for two of their first rounders (if they don't need them for points) and then on-trade one of those picks to the Suns for Prestia.

Assuming GWS are comfortable that won't jeopardize their academy selections I see that as a win for all parties. GWS get their hands on one of the best junior prospects in the country, the Suns get a first round pick for Prestia and Carlton get a very good midfielder whilst maintaining a presence in the first round of the draft.
