Nope, he has a total of four individual awards, and half of them are flukey or one-game medals.

Two All-Australians and 0 best and fairests says it best, when talking about his actual credentials in the game. Cyril Rioli will probably go past that this year with a spot on the AA half-forward flank.

Most of Bartel's 'awards' are team achievements or milestones symptomatic of being in a good side.

Now that teams have started tagging Mitchell successfully he really needs to fire. Very little depth in the Hawk midfield if Mitchell and Hodge don't fire.

Never really understood the rabid desire to see opposition players suspended for negligible stuff that you'd be filthy to see your own done for.

It's very common, but you're just hoping for more MRP softness to compound the problem, just a slippery slope that leads to netball.

See it in all of their losses, if Mitchell is kept quiet and Hodge doesn't have much impact, there's no one to get the fleet of soft outside flankers the pill and they struggle bigtime.

So true. I even asked A Cut Above 3 times who the Hawk's 2nd tier midfielders were outside of the champs and he couldn't answer the question.

Our midfield is from- Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis, Burgoyne, Rioli, Sheils(an underated tackling machine), Whitecross(a quality utility only just recovered properly from two knee recos.), Langford(a contested beast who has struggled to overcome various injuries/illnesses since 2014 dominance), O'rourke(unrealized potential who is still yet to do a preseason due to injuries).
Adding to that in the next season or two will be a selection of: Crouch, JOM, Mitchell, Prestia, Fyfe.

Any midfield that has ORourke, Langford and Whitecross is screwed, add to that a winger, a forward pocket, and 2 HBF's + Mitchell and Lewis and you've got to have one of the worst midfields in the competition. Crouch is a spud playing in the SANFL, JOM is never getting back on the park, Mitchell is another spud who only gets good numbers because hes playing behind 3 of the best 10 midfielders in the comp (Parker, JPK, Hanners) and never gets tagged. Prestia has basically signed a contract with Richmond and Fyfe LOL.

Expect Hawforn to drop down the ladder at Brisbane like velocity.
