Now we get two months of how we get Fyfe. I don't mind the occasional dream but seriously it sometimes borders on delusional.
Reigning Brownlow medalist - in contract this year - restricted free agent next year - Freo right to match offer when he comes out of contract - won't happen!!!
Unless of course his leg doesn't heal and then we can snap him up as a bargain punt for $750K a year.

All this FYFE rumour talk gets me thinking back to when he signed his last contract with Freo.
As I recall he was offered a big contract from another club but never heard who it was .
About 6 weeks later Finnis on a radio interview said that they are not afraid to offer big dollars to a player who they believe fits the needs .
I think this say have been maybe 2012 ish
When pressured he wouldn't say who it was but said a contract was offered to a player who they believed would help the club
Later reading on here that a player was offered 750 over 4 years from someone.
I am only putting 2 and 2 together and believe we offered a deal to Fyfe

Maybe Fyfe has already 'checked out' of Fremantle & they know he's going to leave as a RFA next year as they won't be able to match our contract offer, so this year they're keen to seek a Dangerfield type deal where they still get a lot but the team that gets Fyfe still wins the trade so to speak.

Freo are not trading fyfe this year. Their whole messed up unrealistic list strategy is built around keeping him.
Next offseason maybe if they match another offer and force a clubs hand if fyfe wants to leave

Most likely scenario - Jason Dover floats Fyfe trade - every other club gets overly excited - proposes amazing deals - Fyfe signs new contract extension with Freo on best possible terms this year - leg fails to heal properly - does not play again.
This IS the club who didn't draft Andrew McLeod because he had an earring..
If anyone will find a way to part ways in a losing scenario it's Freo, they're hopeless. Looking forward to watching it unfold regardless
