Traded Jaeger O'Meara [traded to Hawthorn for pick 10 and GWS's 2017 2nd rd pick]

Well if Cochrane hadn't told him to GAGF through the media, maybe he'd want to compensate them. Besides if he was going to Essendon he may as well have them as strong as possible and not use draft picks. Which includes getting another weapon with the #1 pick.

What? Its not even close

30% more contested posessions
30% more supercoach
30% more kicks
100% more clearances

Except De Goey has been playing as a half forward/medium forward pocket whereas O'meara had 100% midfield time..

He averages 3 more disposals despite playing full time midfield. Contested possession numbers are going to be higher when JDG spent most his time playing as a HF and Omeara as a centre square mid ditto for tackle stats.

30% is very selective way of saying 3 more kicks lmfao, more midfield minutes and another preseason (Jom had 3 under his belt in his 2nd year) and Degoey will raise his numbers across the board.

You need to put the stats into context mate and not try to twist them to look like a big gap.

For a 2nd year player playing as a HF his numbers compare very well.

O'Meara will want to play for a club in the 8 or in contention to play in the 8 over the next 1-2 years. Other factors are, the club must be Victorian based, must have salary cap space and have the capability to trade with GCS, whether that be for picks or decent talent willing to give up for O'Meara. Factoring in those considerations and coming from a common sense perspective:

Gee - Finals side is a tick however they lack the cap space and picks. I'm not sure they would be willing to trade a player with enough value and/or have a player willing to move to the GCS - NO
Haw - Finals side is a tick, picks are a tick however salary cap space is a question mark (I think they can manage their cap) - YES
WB - Finals side is a tick, picks a tick, salary cap space I doubt it - NO
NM - Have already ruled themselves out - NO
StK - In contention for finals next year, picks a tick and cap space a tick - YES
Melb - In contention for finals next year, picks an issue (traded their first to GC) and doubt they have players to move on to the GCS - NO
Coll - In contention for finals next year, no picks, no players to or willing to trade and salary cap space is an unknown. They do get linked to most players - NO
Rich - Not in contention and are rebuilding, picks and cap space likely a tick - NO
Car - As above but they also look to be bolstering their young talent through trading with GWS again - NO
Ess - Not in contention however gut feel is they will believe they are with players returning (but will O'Meara?) and picks and cap space likely a tick - MAYBE

Conclusion: Common sense suggests Hawks and Saints the frontrunners however clubs don't always use common sense and may make a play selling the idea they are on the up to O'Meara. Bombers a dark horse and there's something about the Blues too. They would be the four teams most likely IMO.

Hawks lead over Saints. MCG better for O'Meara than Etihad.

Oh what have you got to trade? Buckley's hope. Just because Jaeger's girlfriends daughter is the niece of a Pies player doesn't mean he'll go there... as girlfriends family are Hawk supporters.
Niece of the VFL coach, not a player.

Why would JOM give a shit about who his girlfriends family supports? That's literally the last consideration he'd take in to account, if at all.

We have nothing significant to trade. Won't get him, and thank god for that. Last thing we need is another member of our perma rehab group.

Can the Hawks hurry up and lose a final so he can nominate them, this shit is getting boring.
Not our fault this bye is delaying it by an extra week.

We'll straight sets out to make it as fast as possible.

Patience grasshopper, it will happen soon enough.

There's other factors. O'Meara has suffered patella tendonitis since he was 16. He's managed it to some extent. St Kilda's medical team have had success with managing similar injuries to Tom Hickey and Riewoldt. The patella tendon is a separate issue. I suspect the club that effectively sells their medical department will assist in getting O'Meara to their club. I understand Burgoyne had similar knee tendonitis as well.

If O'Meara doesn't choose a particular club due to the surface I suspect physiologically he's already stuffed himself. Hawks still play games at Etihad...other players with knee tendonitis (as mentioned earlier) also play there.

I think everyone is to immersed by the idea that he's the "best since Judd since Bont". The fact that he hasn't played a single game in 2 years and has chronic injury at least halves his value. There's no way we would give De Goey+1st roudner for someone this injury prone especially after what we experienced with Scharenberg and Freeman. O'meara is not worth 2 first rounders, no way.

Nice summary. In the end JOM will choose his club and a deal will be done. Big risk for anyone and I hope CFC don't take it. We have enough problems with injuries and JOM's looks far worse than a ACL.
I would have thought the Saints may be hesitant taking on another high risk prospect after Freeman.

I rate Prestia very highly and sad to lose him but at least he said he wanted the Suns compensated adequately, if Jaeger chooses Essendon i can see just go through to the PSD..Because that's the kind of dog he is!

Hahahaha.....

A club that built its list around players that left other clubs.

Hey Cats fans, Ablett - bloody dog yeah?

His tendinitis is very severe so bad he was sent to same surgeon overseas that did Rafael Nadals knees and had radical knee cap shaving. And Metricon has the softest surface in the competition.

Not as much as Saints

Also doesn't mention the fact that O'Meara runs a 2.80 20 metre sprint, compared to De Goey's 3.01, making him one of the absolute fastest inside mids in the comp (if his body gets back to 100%), and giving him a much a higher ceiling going forward.

De Goey is a vanilla athlete whose game is built around attacking the ball like a bull at the gate. O'Meara is just as adept at winning the contested ball, but also boasts one of the best athletic profiles in the game. As far as I'm aware his sprint, agility and vertical jump results were all top 1% in the comp type stuff (or not far off it).

Cheers. About 90% of the posters on our board hope we don't take the risk. Lets be honest, O'Meara will still cost a lot, in terms of trade currency and contract. I'm sitting on the fence and trust the club will make an informed decision if we get Jaeger.

Everything I'm hearing about Freeman is positive. Expectations on him playing immediately were low even to the point where Richo flat-out said he will not play senior footy this year, which he obviously didn't. He has played reserves and reserves-reserves the past six weeks. That's a positive. Freeman's a long term investment that may or may not pay off. But he only cost pick 27 and a three year contract around 350k a year. O'Meara will cost far more.

Yup I'm well aware. Nadal has had a lot of success since he similarly ruptured his patella tendon. I researched it a while back. I think he's gone on to win 4-5 grand slam events since the operation. His tendonitis is also very similar to O'Meara's. I think the fact Nadel has managed his knees so well and had a lot of success gives O'Meara some hope.
