Traded Jaeger O'Meara [traded to Hawthorn for pick 10 and GWS's 2017 2nd rd pick]

Wait - so he's rated 22, but not in their best 22?

This reminds me of the time my girlfriend left because she said she loved me but wasn't in love with me. Mind you, she use to lie about all sorts of things.. I sometimes wonder if she didn't get a job at The West.

Huh? Are you being intentionally obtuse?

(I believe) Since2001 said, and I reiterated, that Howe is probably in the 22-25 range on our list. As in just outside the 22. Not sure how you've got this confused tbh

We must have dated the same chick

I wonder if the Hawks need for a big key defender will see Jack Leslie's name pop up in the JOM deal.

Could entice the Hawks to offer a more highly regarded best 22 player.

Uncontracted and a Melbourne boy.

Taken at pick 20 in 2013 but can't get a game behind May & Thompson.

We already have a couple of developing key defenders in Brand and Hetherley. I doubt we would want to take on another one

Brand is also uncontracted isn't he? Seems strange if he was your next in line key defender.

Heatherley seems to be better suited to 3rd tall defender from what I've seen. Just not quite big enough.

Was just a thought as I know the Suns will be shopping Leslie around.

I'd be disappointed to lose Leslie. Has shown ability. Unlucky not have played more senior footy. Big, very fast for 198cm, tough, reliable skills. Couldn't blame him for seeking greater opportunities elsewhere though and if it assists getting the trade through faster, all good.

Do you seriously not understand what he's saying?

He is also being shopped around even though contracted.

But he isn't a key defender, only 3rd tall.

But if that's what your list needs, I'm sure his name will also pop up in negotiations.
Since when is 197cm not tall enough for kpb?

we couldn't be unhappy with that
While it still likely isn't equal value for O'Meara given his potential, it's probably closer than many other trades that have been suggested. When stars (or potential stars) change teams, they rarely return equal value for their original team. Unfortunate reality of the current player movement system. Hartlett at least represents a need, being an experienced player, midfielder, rather than another draft pick. It may require some other assets added. Exchange of later picks perhaps. Exchange of picks next season (is that even legal?). Of course, depends on Hartlett and Sicily agreeing to move, perhaps the biggest challenge for GC in getting a deal that they want for O'Meara.

Could see a potential 3-way trade with Freo, which will give Dockers a pick to get McCarthy with. Think the following night work:

Given -
Freo - Pick 3 + 39
Hawks - Will Langford, Brad Hill + Pick 14
GCS - Pick 21 + 24, Jaeger O'Meara

Received -
GCS - Pick 3 + 14, Will Langford
Hawks - Jaeger O'Meara + Pick 39
Freo - Brad Hill, Pick 21 + 24

The days of freo getting their pants pulled down at the trade table like this are probably over

If you are Fremantle, do you take that deal?
I think not

I would've thought essentially getting Cam McCarthy, Brad Hill along with most likely pick 21 for Pick 3 is more than equitable. If not I thought it was overs for Freo.

Why do that when they can likely get all of their business done while still retaining pick 3?
They have no obligation or interest to assist other teams to transact what they desire

They kind of do as they don't have a second round pick this year. Hill is worth top 20, McCarthy is a 2nd rounder. Mayne will be an end of 2nd round pick compensation back to them, questionable whether that's enough for McCarthy, maybe.

So they need to satisfy Hawks and Giants somehow and the picks they currently have wont cut it. Getting a third party involved in the Jaeger trade may be beneficial to all parties.

Your post lost what little credibility it held when you mentioned Burton that way.. you obviously have no understanding of our list..

I think Hawthorn are seriously over-rating players like Howe, Sicily, Whitecross and a whole bunch of others in the 19-25 range on their list who are the equivalent of a third round draft pick. Trying to find trade value on the Hawthorn list isn't an easy job because of all the older quality players they can't let go and lack of quality talent at the lower end. Burton is probably the best (only) bit of real talent Hawthorn have under the age of 23 with the exception of those who have never played a game.

McCarthy is a human being who wishes to play football for Fremantle. His worth is yet to be determined (as far as we know) by the 2 parties involved. Fremantle have many other means to acquire the picks that they require to get Hill and McCarthy. Barlow, Ballyntyne, Mayne compensation, Zac Clarke.
The only way I see them moving pick 3 is if they return another high first rd pick (or perhaps 2 lower ones) in exchange, as well as getting their targets in McCarthy and Hill

Can't think of a less remarkable hawks player.

Can't see why any club would see him worth anything in a trade beyond possibly a low PSD pick.
Can't kick.

Hartung will be important to keep, but may change if Hill trade goes down a different road I hope.

Schoenmakers.. just gotta keep him with Roughy out.

Sicily & Breust...

Is Breust worth more to Suns than Jaeger?
