Getting Nankervis, Prestia and Harlett/Mitchell + drafting Brodie and Kirby (if he is anything like he has shown in our VFL this year) would be a good trade period.

Get a fit Yarran and a fit Deledio if he is not traded away and we'd be a solid side...

But of course, this is Richmond we are talking about, so I won't rule out only getting over Prestia for pick 6 and some other picks going either way.

How about pick 26 the Dons get from Melbourne for Hibberd comes to us for Lennon.

Trade our pick six and 26 to Port for Hartlett and pick 9.

Trade pick 9 to GC for Prestia.

Get second round compo for Ty pick 25 and take to the draft.

Keep all 2017 picks and all we lose is Lennon and pick 6 for Hartlett and Prestia.

That's exactly right. They were killing us and killing the coach.
Not here to make excuses for the coach he's got a lot of work to do too but those blokes hung the team out to dry.
If anyone wanted to know why Ben Lennon is on the outer that'd be why. He is either lazy, selfish, can't run or doesn't listen. He's not alone but he's a good example and a complete liability.
Vickery constantly leaving us outnumbered by being out of play from lack of run. We all love Miles but he couldn't keep up. Recruited Townsend for a bit of hardness but can't keep up. Corey Ellis can't keep up. Some of these blokes need to have huge pre seasons. Cotchin spent half his time being smashed by the opposition so was chasing tail after picking himself of the ground.
Then everyone wants to have a go at a bloke like Brandon Ellis who does what he's expected to do but has no numbers in support so has nowhere to go, so backwards we go and round and round with the hard running opposition hemming us in. Eventually our own hard running players were blowing up too due to having to do too much.
Very hard to watch it as you say there is a reason it happens and it's most definitely not instructions.

So is it:
A - Lack of fitness? After 3 similar starts to the year, how could that still happen?
B - Is it the game plan coached that we don't seem to want many players running off their men, just in case we turn it over?
C - Is it a lack of standards identified by the FD or Coaches?
D - Is it lack of standards communicated to players by coaches?
E - Is it lack of coaches holding players accountable for standards with things like merit selection, early morning dips in the bay, etc?
F - Is it lack of intensity of preseason or training standards being reinforced by the coaching staff?
G - Is it a lack of drafting or trading players that are capable of meeting standards?
H - Is it the players don't do what they are coached to do?
I - Something else?

(a) We are nowhere near a flag and would make no sense to bring in players of Harlett's ilk.
(b) Harlett is overated and injury prone
(c) Should not trade picks in next years draft (especially the first) as 2017 draft pool is rated better than this year. We may also need points for Naish or any other f/s (if any good).
(d) Harlett is not worth a first round pick

If I knew mate I'd be an AFL coach.
It's one thing to see what they are doing or not doing because it's plainly obvious particularly if you're familiar with today's methods but getting a group of players to do it right is something else.
teying to think of a recent example of today's footy executed properly and I just remembered that goal on Saturday when Picken and Hunter done tho old one, two and Picken snapped a goal in the second quarter.
It's sctually a great example because it uses two blokes who run until they no longer can every week, they ran to outnumber Sydney on that occasion and then used fast and well executed hands to each other twice to create the free man. Imagine two of our blokes in that situation? We probably wouldn't have ran hard to create it in the first instance in any case.
Once a losing panicky mindset set in we just got worse this year.
Selfish players go into self preservation mode and then it doesn't matter what you try.

I have been trumpeting about drafting but I wouldn't mind Hartlett as well as Prestia, adds two genuninely good players to our midfield which would make the likes of Cotchin Dusty and Deledio a hell of a lot better.

But ONLY if we keep Pick 6, and ONLY if we get back a 2016 2nd rounder from Port if indeed we trade our 2017 1st.

If we lose Vickery, Lennon, Conca, and then maybe one or two of Edwards, B. Ellis and Miles....
Then I'd be happy with bringing in Prestia, Hartlett, and a few second rounders.

I reckon we should try downsizing our side a little and, as mentioned before, even look at giving Batchelor another crack.
I don't wanna be too reactive and copy the Bulldogs, but yeah I see him similar to Biggs and if our whole side is running constantly, supporting each other and making more options and we ditch this chip chip possession crap, Batch will be a much better player again.

True & yep we do seem to jog around when we have the ball.
I hate it one player jogs past the man on the mark to make position for chip kick, and the players up the ground, don't lead up, probably because there is no point as it won't come to them.
Hard to teach a side a run hard backwards, if they are not even used to running hard forwards or toward the player with the ball, instead of away from them.

If we trade a first rounder for a 26 year old Hamish Hartlett we have learnt literally nothing and might as well blow the place up.

Not that I want to trade a first rounder for Hartlett but when was the last time we took a risk with our first rounder? Conservative vanilla types while we trade out mid to late picks for fringe types.

Got to give to get... again, don't want Hartlett. Not for the money he is on or a top pick. Would swap for Titch and a later pick though.
