Anyone know if Gary Ablett Jnr is in town at the moment? Saw someone looking at stall menus at he Central Market Food Court tonight - guess it was the generic bald headed guy thing but he did look like GAJ though his shoulders/arms looked a bit on the thin side. Anyone else see the guy?

I'd only believe that if he was arm in arm with Tom Rockliff and Tim O'Brien..

Hampton is a mid. He only played back at GWS because they have about 54 star midfielders in their squad. Get a pre-season into him and he will be a gun. The lad can play.

If they play him in the midfield. But he has trained and played in the backline so far, and we have had no indication that will change soon. The people who want to see him in the midfield are himself and fans (some anyway) but not the coaches, it seems.

Id be happy if it does fall through ... we can simply hand over 13 for rocky which noble would be yelling out ... 'start the car' . Rocky is a much better player imho.

Given the criticism of Thommo and his pace, and our midfield pace generally .....i am amazed at the enthusiasm for Rockliff?

Gibbs has more pace, higher hurt factor ......But i don't believe he alone is the missing piece ? .....really need 3-4 others in the SANFL to step up !

Sounds ingenious if Hendo was worth something. But this is effectively our first and second. But Sos doesn't need to know this. Lol.

He's had a lot of injuries though? ........great pace and really good player, i agree

Interesting that so many clubs happy to trade their first round picks this year ? .......i am seeing a good dept draft, but not the franchise players with game changing abilities ......time is always the determiner of that though

Rockliff has a lot more class than Thompson, and dispite the off field issues he would give good "on field/game day" leadership for our young players

I'd expect Cameron to play mainly in the midfield next season, knight to be in the best 22 & Possible Milera to stand up and claim a spot

If that happens, that's a good injection of pace

I'd like to get Rockliff because he is very very good at some aspects of football, notably around winning contests.

We would be relying on coaching to build a structure which works based on the players we have. If we have Sloane, Rockliff and Crouch *2 then our strength will be winning midfield contests. That's something you can build a team around. Add Gibbs too and even better.

Point is I don't think we necessarily need to aim for a midfield which is pretty good at everything. I think it's fine to have a midfield which is elite at some things and ok at others.

Not at all. You'd do 6 for Prestia in a heartbeat. If your 1st round pick in the draft turned out like him, you'd be stoked. This takes out the guess work.

I posted the exact same thing on the main board a couple of days ago except I threw in DMAC as steak knives.
The only suggestion I made that didnt get slapped down by Carlton supporters.

Thompson wasn't really an issue at all when he was beasting it in the middle and getting 30 odd touches a game. Only became an issue when he stopped racking it up as he doesn't hurt the opposition with his disposal and his other faults started to show more. Rocky in theory would rack it up so his potentially questionable speed wouldn't matter at all.
