Laughs will be had when O'Meara turns out to be a star. Geelong fans hoping desperately he doesn't come up from his knee issues because they know what is coming.
After everything that has happened, anything less than 3 brownlows and 3 flags for O'Meara would be a failure.

It's got Chris Judd to Carlton written all over it, he might turn out to be a great player but it wont help the Hawks achieve anything.

Yet you keep biting.

Yet you campaigners won't call Jimmy, it's only a phone call.

Disgusting way to treat a long term plodder.
Yeah, we should have just traded him for a 17th round draft pick instead

To be fair, Geelong coughed up as much or more for Dangerfield & Henderson as we will for O'Meara. Which has yielded a Brownlow already, but probably not a flag before the Cats' imminent rebuild.

It was a year yesterday the original thread was created. Congrats A Cut Above for making the Fred... Other special mentions must go to:

Afternoon, Hawfies.

Is it true that O'Meara has just told Hawforn to GAGF? Apparently he's really considering Essendon now.

Wouldn't that be a debacle.

Lol, the goo chuggers are being investigated for draft tampering, using Vickery of all people, lol.

AFL quizzes Hawthorn for a second time over Vickery deal

Nick Bowen and Matt Thompson October 17, 2016 3:20 PM

HAWTHORN has been quizzed by the AFL for a second time about the circumstances behind free agent Ty Vickery's move to Waverley amid opposition disquiet about how the Hawks' offer was structured.

Any club that makes a free agency or trade offer is routinely questioned about the terms of the deal when it lodges it with the AFL.

The Hawks lodged a two-year deal for Vickery believed to be worth about $1 million a week ago, but were called into League headquarters again on Monday morning when AFL officials questioned them once more about the mechanics of the Vickery deal.

Despite earlier speculation Richmond might match a Hawthorn offer to the restricted free agent, the Tigers let Vickery pass to the Hawks without any fight after being advised the spearhead's lucrative new deal would earn them a second-round compensation pick (currently No.26).

Rival clubs have privately expressed concerns about whether the Vickery deal was structured to ensure the spearhead got to Waverley and Richmond was compensated with an attractive pick.

The Hawks were linked to Vickery late in the 2016 season and industry sources initially believed they were considering tabling a three-year offer that was expected to earn Richmond an end-of-second or third-round pick.

When announcing Vickery's signing, Hawthorn published a statement on social media saying the 26-year-old had accepted a three-year deal, but quickly replaced it with an updated version that referred to a two-year deal.

An AFL spokesman said Monday's meeting was "part of our routine sign-off of all free agency moves and finalising of all trades".

Clubs contacted by AFL.com.au on Monday said they had only been required to discuss the details of free agency deals with the AFL at one meeting, which occurred when they lodged the official paperwork.

Vickery played 119 games and kicked 158 goals in eight seasons with Richmond after being recruited with pick No.8 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft.

Richmond and Hawthorn have been contacted for comment.

We should be investigated for offering Ty Vickery a salary in the first place.

And giving up Mitchell and co. to help free up space, shocking decision. Sicily is a better proposition and far younger.

The thing you seem to have trouble understanding is excluding Enright (replaced by Touhy/Thurlow)

The best half-back in your club's history is going to be replaced by Zach Tuohy, that's a loss.

and Taylor (only 30, not even close to cooked) the others are either not best 22, or bottom 6.

It doesn't matter where they are, although they're hardly bottom 6 either. They are players who form almost your entire backline, and they're going to cook even more over the off-season.

Unlike your mob, we don't rely on all of our old players to win games.

Geelong's top 5 in B&F

1. Patrick Dangerfield — 253 (26)
2. Joel Selwood — 238 (28)
3. Corey Enright — 234.5 - (gone)
4. Cameron Guthrie — 229 (23)
5. Harry Taylor — 214 (30)

Hawthorn's top 5 in B&F

1. Sam Mitchell – 170 votes (gone)
2. Jordan Lewis – 157 votes (gone)
3. Shaun Burgoyne – 156 votes (33)
4. Grant Birchall – 152 votes (29)
5. Cyril Rioli – 148 votes (28)

Rioli is 28 now? I'll assume the rest of your information is wrong too.

Also, BnF voting isn't a measure of reliance, it's an award for performance. A club can rely on a player but that player doesn't need to be the best.

We've won 10 of 13 games in the last 3 years without Mitchell. Won 4 of 5 without Lewis. Doesn't look like we rely on them at all. The only player we probably need to turn up is James Frawley, the rest is strength through diversity.

So the Hawks have lied about the length of contract to price out a Richmond offer match and also to boost their compo pick....... this comes as no surprise but why didn't they take out an injunction to protect themselves this time?
