Slightly disappointed we couldn't get back into first round, but nothing we could do when other clubs spend 2 weeks posturing over players.
We've really set up our off season next year, we will have 2 top 12 picks and a '18 first rounder to use to get a young stud from Giants. Plus $$$ to throw at the best FA mids.
Stevens adds solid depth and the club believe Steele will be a very nice player for us.
And the last full back we had from Ballarat went ok.
Now Trout needs to work his magic at 23 and 36.
Will be some nervous boys ahead of next round of delistings, but if you do the maths it's not hard to see who's in trouble.
Happy to see us pick up a St. Pats lad in Brown. Clearly the best producer of school boy talent hey BrianSpeaking? No doubt Hopper and Briwn will buddy up nicely in 2018 on the back of that connection. Maybe the Crouch boys will jump in too

Pick 10, Pick 23, Pick 36 Pick 60, Pick 66 & Pick 70 for a player that has not played a game for 2 years.

Huge call by the Hawks
#10 = 1395
#23 = 815
#36 = 502
#60 = 146
#66 = 80
#70 = 39
Total points = 2977 ....
Hawks essentially had to give up pick 1 for Jaegar, funny if it plays out reverse-croad like

A+ from afl.com.au, probably overs. But the Hawks trade was robbery
How exactly did Brisbane get an A-minus?! Lost Hanley, couldn't ship Rockliff and grabbed a VFL defender in Frost... Got picks, but they've had a few of those...

A C-minus for Hawthorn and A for West Coast are pretty generous too.

Actually think it works out given the recruitment of Lids to GWS puts a lot of pressure to win it because
it is pretty clear a gun midfielder or 2 are gone....they can't keep them beyond next year $$$$.
Reduced List , Cola , 4 academy boys .
Even the kids drafted this year will take 2 years to develop and they won't get a game.

Absolutely rapt , the depth of the list is the best I have ever seen .

Also what is very clear we are a destination club for players .

All credit to the club admin for that too.

We are coming!

Yeh, I generally don't value many footy 'experts' opinions... I would like to see their grading system, but it would be non-existent and based on 'gut-feel'...

We've had a bloody positive off-season tho, and next year is going to be a ripper too! 2018 I think we'll be a legitimate top 4 shot and possible contender!

For 2016/2017 We had:
2 First Rounders
1 Second Rounder
2 3rd rounders.

Now we have :
2 First Rounders
2 Second Rounders
1 3rd Rounders
AND 2 players.

OK they Arean't Jaeger O Meara ( who somehow reminds my of Cyclops from the X-Men ) but hell their knee's arent dicky either.

It doesn't look as flash when you put it on paper but if Hawks nose dive we are doing extremely well from it. Steele was expensive when you look at what other teams paid for their GWS rejects so to be huge winners we need the Hawks to have a catastrophic crumble.

A great trade period. I'm not disappointed to keep both our second picks.

So do we have to delist another two players? My maths is poo and when trying to work it out I confused myself.

With Pickett and Ahern being practically freebies, we should have at least inquired and had a go at one of them for the picks accepted.

Looks like Templeton, Fisher, Murdoch and Shenton are all gone.
And looks like Lee got a contract.

Was glad they held out for 2nd rounder for WHE, they were talking about 68 or something

Even though we've already delisted 4 players (Curren, Delaney, Saunders and Payne)

We have three players coming in and 3 picks to use in the draft with another pick to be used to upgrade Holmes.

I'm still confused. Been a long day at work lol

For those saying Hawks sold the farm for JOM.

I have an uncle. He sold his farm.

Then he received a 7 figure sum for it.

This is not the Hawk's, there is no massive pay off at the end. There is a club, who decided they do not need anything else to win a flag, outside of a guy, in a midfield, with ratshit knees who hasn't played for a couple years because of said ratshit knees.

Otherwise known as doing a Carlton, because they're the only ones else who have sold things to come up short on a consistent basis on the hope that what they have is good enough.

I'd give Freo an A+ and us an A. If we could have nabbed something back with Steele that would be absolutely killing every single trade.

i would say Freo and Melbourne the hugest winners, both teams have selected players who will actually help push them up the ladder. I can see both playing for a finals spot. Collingwood stunk it up.Essendon and GWS have increased list quality.

Hawks don't pick until 88 this year
& 3rd round next year.

They sold the farm and JOM has risk. I am not sure how it was a good trade period
Ridiculous picking that late.
It will most likely leave a hole in a list, unless they someone pluck some players that late.

Ins:
Main: Steele, Stevens, N. Brown, pick 23, pick 36, Holmes
Rookie: Irish A, Rookie pick
Cat B: Irish B

Outs:
Main: Curren, Delaney, Murdoch, Shenton, Fisher, Templeton
Rookie: Payne, Saunders,
Cat B: Holmes

It looks like Lee was offered a contract in an article I read....

What are our chances of a guy like florent? I thought he'd be well gone by 23 but Cal twomey has him ranked 18th in the draft and there's only 5 Victorian picks before ours so maybe a possible slider?

I know this sounds like total BS, but I think if O'meara takes half the season to get right (highly likely) Hawthorn are headed for bottom 4.

It feels exactly like Freo this year. A team that looked super solid just feel apart because of missing a few keys.

They will be back up by 2019 but we times this really, really well.

I suspect that trade for the hawks first will pay off in a BIG way next year.

Thanks mate. I'd forgotten we'd rookied Saunders! That's why it wasn't adding up! God I'm a dumb arse sometimes.

Think that's the correct call. Need cover in the talls. Might also call out one of the delisted names at 61 too.
